Never homeless: Ripped off in Mission Bay Park

In jail, not prison
Good luck to you Keep on Truckin Tim. You have a rough road ahead but I know a few who stuck with it and found success along that very difficult road. It can be done. Take all the help you can get and try to igore the aggravation and red tape that often comes along with assistance. I have been educated: AB109, jail vs. prison, state vs. county responsibility, parole vs. probation vs. supervision, inmate vs. prisoner vs. criminal.— April 17, 2013 6:19 a.m.
Few visit women at Las Colinas jail
In response to the Reader Poll question, "Have you ever visited someone in prison?", 83% responded yes. Interesting.— April 16, 2013 6:56 a.m.

Hello Miriam, I am sorry for the pain your family is feeling this Christmas and for so many months now. It can be a very lonely road when a family member is so sick and most especially around the holidays. If you can, go to this website whose members are experiencing the same thing and help each other out with information and support...just families and individuals dealing with the same issues as you. Fill out the information to join the group and they will send you an email about logging in. It helped me tremendously to know others were going through the same thing with a loved family member. http://www.braintrust.org/btcarejoin.htm Also, go to the following website to read about hospice care for terminally ill family members and maybe talk to your Dad’s doctor about it. San Diego has some wonderful hospices. A lady named Diane created this website when her Dad was ill and it has lots of helpful information. http://www.brainhospice.com/index.html There are many sites offering information and support for families dealing with epilepsy and brain lesions and tumors. Go to Yahoo Groups and look around to find some. A good one for brain tumors (if you Dad has one) is www.virtualtrial.com. You are not alone even though it may feel like it on this Christmas day.— December 25, 2010 3:12 a.m.
Prop 8
"In the end I realized that I could love them without having to accept their ideas and beliefs. It's a simple concept, one I learned as a child, yet still I have a hard time with it. It's hard to respectfully disagree with people." Wonderful post Siobhan. Our lives are regularly filled with small and large struggles of this nature from personal spats with family members and friends to disagreements on broader social, economic and political issues. Thanks for the reminder that we can indeed be respectful and loving while disagreeing.— August 6, 2010 8:33 p.m.
Trying to find love...
LPR, Trying to find love......a universal sentiment! Just finished playing my old Irish songs for St. Patrick's Day and remembered your post while playing this one. It is memorable because of the emotion with which it is sung. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo0p6BbecNo— March 18, 2010 12:05 a.m.
Saint Patrick's Day is a'coming...
About that Irish history and song: The Easter Rising of 1916 had profound and far-reaching effects on Ireland’s subsequent history. It has been referred to as “The Irish War for Independence” and was the pivotal event in ultimately securing independence for the Republic of Ireland. Joseph Plunkett, killed by a firing squad at age 28, was an Irish nationalist, poet, journalist and a leader of the 1916 Easter Rising. Hours before his execution in Kilmainham Gaol (Jail), he was married in the prison chapel to his sweetheart Grace Gifford. Here is beautiful song about love of homeland and romantic love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Skg36SrAG4&featur…— March 16, 2010 8:31 p.m.
Glencar Lake, Ireland
Bonnie, I have not been to Capitola but would love to see the celtic cross formation there and would appreciate the specifics. I have family in San Francisco so it would be a great side trip on my trek there! Also hope to visit to Borrego Springs' Galleta Meadows to see those metal creatures you photographed. Loving all your photos in The Reader.— December 8, 2009 10:07 a.m.
