San Diego City Council Revisits $288 Million Loan Forgiveness to Redevelopment Agency
RE #1: As a blogger, I seem to have more liberty than a paid journalist to write what I write. As an unemployed disabled veteran, I have the time to look at documents that most people with lives don't have time for. I also don't have to worry about a deadline. Matthew T. Hall at the U-T has written some about this, mostly things you could have found earlier here at Mr. Bauder's CITY LIGHTS and SCAM DIEGO postings. I personally was emailed about the $288 million agenda item by a concerned Reader reader several weeks ago and now find it all too juicy to let go, especially with all of the implications from tangential items such as the up-coming Kessler deposition of Hiz Honor.— July 12, 2010 11:37 a.m.
Comic Relief is Dead
RE #78: "RE #48: a2zresource, I worked with Andy when he was the moderator for an alternative news program we put together at KPRI in the early 70's, when the studio was located at the corner of 7th and Ash, across from the El Cortez. That was one of the most exciting periods in my life. What a mind." Andrew Makarushka was and is the reason I walked out of a US Trustee's PAYING internship with a Chapter 13 bankruptcy trustee to write for CITY TIMES in the late 90s as one of his students. I've got a lot to say about the Reader and its place in San Diego, and a lot more about the purpose of blogging, but I'll take it elsewhere.— July 11, 2010 10:07 a.m.
More On Immigration
RE #2: I am not aware of Mexican immigration laws as I have never been interested in emigrating there. On the other hand (if I remember correctly), my readings of the Mexican Constitution informed me decades ago that before the age of 21, I had the right to claim Mexican citizenship even though I am an American-born US citizen of US citizen parents, based on the citizenship of my grandparents. If I had done so before turning 21, then I imagine that I subsequently would have had the Mexican constitutional right to emigrate to Mexico.— July 11, 2010 12:26 a.m.
Little Italy Association Recommended for Parking Contract
Say it ain't so, Mr. Bauder!— July 10, 2010 1:31 p.m.
Will For-Profit Colleges Make Us Forget Subprime Mortgages?
RE #19: Maybe it's because members of Congress and state legislatures have been "promoted" to their level of incompetence? http://www.worldcat.org/title/peter-principle/ocl… I can't explain the inner workings of the Tea Party movement: I'm an Independent voter now and not one of those in the loop. RE #21: I really can't agree with it either, in principle. Seriously. But for the many who don't/won't read Mr. Bauder's blog posts/articles and the comments that follow, they are kind of already shortchanging their educations in a practical dollars-&-sense way, are they not?— July 9, 2010 8:38 p.m.
Judge Confirms Ruling; Sanders Must Give Deposition
"Who knows how much the SEDC's Carolyn Smith stole in terms of bonuses for herself and others?" Probably somewhat less than the $288 million in loan-diverted HUD community block grants (and questionably-acquired subsequent interest) that City Council members wearing their Redevelopment Agency hats want forgiven by our distinguished City Council... http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/encanto-gas… http://sdreader.stickywebs.com http://www.hud.gov/offices/oig/reports/files/ig09…— July 9, 2010 8:27 p.m.

Diary = journal. To write in a journal = journalism. Not all is journalism = San Diego Reader. I think I've got it now.— July 9, 2010 3:32 p.m.
The Art of War
Gen. Griffith's translation is one of the few books that I have two copies of. Thank goodness for Oxford University Press. http://www.worldcat.org/isbn/0195014766— July 9, 2010 3:17 p.m.

RE Blogging definition or lack of one: I don't necessarily follow all or any of these tips mentioned in the link below, but if people are interested in anything I've blogged about at the Reader, then I blame the journalism teachings of Andrew Makarushka, back when he was our adviser at the CITY TIMES of San Diego City College in the last millennium. http://www.problogger.net/archives/2010/06/19/8-h…— July 9, 2010 3:04 p.m.
