What famous person have you been told you look like?
I think she kinda looks like Donna Frye!— September 24, 2008 4:30 p.m.
Gloria Signs Coming Down
I agree, historymatters. Especially since Jerry Sanders was the former Chief of Police. Whenever I see a yard sign that says "Police Support Todd Gloria" it counts as a strike against him in my book. Might as well say "The Ol' Boys Club Supports Todd Gloria."— September 24, 2008 4:18 p.m.
MAD Help Wanted
Good point, nostalgic. When fire races up this dry-brush canyon and burns all the houses along it, we're all gonna need a place to stay. That community center will come in real handy then.— September 23, 2008 7:05 p.m.
Following the Money in District 3
Just got a flier from Todd Gloria left on my doorstep. High-gloss, full-color, near-cardstock brochure with this photo on the cover: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/photos/2008/sep/22/… Which leads me to ask...Which one is Gloria?!?!? What ticks me off about these fliers is that I won't see them again until the next election. Dear Councilmembers: How 'bout leaving me some fliers with updates about progress made during your term? The only time you come by my house is when you want me to elect you.— September 22, 2008 12:45 p.m.
MAD Help Wanted
I've read a lot of negative comments about MAD on this website. Today, as I watch the CCC clear brush and dead trees from the canyon I live on, I couldn't be more pleased with MAD. This was the result I've been hoping for. I've lived in this house for over five years and repeatedly submitted formal requests to the city to reduce the fire hazard in this canyon. This is the first action I've seen taken. They've been out here two days in a row, working their tails off, and picking up trash to boot! So far, so good MAD! Keep up the good work!— September 22, 2008 12:29 p.m.
Los Reyes Golden Hill
End up eating here about once a week, rotating through the chile relleno burrito (one of the biggest chiles in town -- it's not just a burrito full of beans, batter, and cheese), the fish tacos, the rolled tacos (chicken), and the bean tostada. Guacamole rocks too. You can get a large tub of it for like $4. With each avocado being $1.50 at the store, this is a true deal! Everything's always fresh and tasty. But the thing I love best about Los Reyes is that every time I'm there I see someone in the kitchen washing their hands -- cashier included. If cleanliness is next to godliness, there must be a Los Reyes in Heaven!— September 8, 2008 10:54 a.m.
Beerfest
Beerfest was on HBO the other night and I found myself watching it AGAIN and laughing more than ever! There's someting about Beerfest that gets me every time...from the opening scene with Donald Sutherland ("Say goodnight, Popo. 'Goodnight Popo!'") to the scenes with Cloris Leachman ("I always sleep better with a little sausage in me") and everything in between. Nobody does a beer-goggle scene better than Beerfest. This is a classic comedy that has earned its place in history alongside the likes of Dumb and Dumber, Airplane, and National Lampoon's Vacation. I dare you not to laugh!— September 3, 2008 9:11 p.m.
Pregnant Parking, Wasps' Nests, Suggested Donations, "Arms" Hotels
Yeah, I don't see how a pregnant woman can withstand "swollen feet, aching backs, hormonal imbalances, indigestion, [and] hot flashes" walking up and down the multiple levels Horton Plaza, but doesn't want to walk any extra distance to get from the parking lot *into* the mall. You don't have to pregnant to have those symptoms. If we are truly being courteous to our fellow shoppers, those who are in good health should park as far away as possible and leave the closer parking spaces to anyone who might have a headache, earache, backache, stubbed toe, uncomfortable shoes, small children, elderly parents, be in a hurry, or have to pee real bad.— August 28, 2008 6:28 p.m.
Reign of Fire
Could not stomach Matthew McConaughey's bald head long enough to make it past the first 30 minutes. Even with Christian Bale in the lead role.— August 4, 2008 4:34 p.m.
Big Kitchen
Didn't know about this place until moving to South Park, and now we take all of our out-of-town guests here for breakfast. This place is one of a kind, as is Judy. Tres bien!— July 22, 2008 6:56 p.m.
