Good ol' boys' and girls' club
"Filling conveniently vacated seats by appointment" is not a trick that is limited to the Sweetwater School District. This is an age-old tactic, and there are several local politicians who can thank this little benefit of having friends in "high" places for helping them get through the ranks to run for, oh, let's say "Lt. Governor?"— October 27, 2014 2:10 p.m.
Enough nepotism and cronyism
La Mesa is the same way. If you want to look at campaign expenditures, you have to flag the ones you want from a notebook kept behind the counter. And I think it is the same, 10 cents a page for copying. Crazy. And, oh, by the way, if you request the notebook of someone who happens to be in City Hall at the time, don't be surprised if they casually walk past you as you look through the book....— October 24, 2014 12:17 p.m.
Enough nepotism and cronyism
Anniej, well said, and thank you a million times for what you and your dedicated group have done and continue to do.— October 23, 2014 10:50 a.m.
Jacobs backs Tuck
It's not so much that billionaires think they know better than everyone else, it's the suck up crowd that surrounds them and gives them the platform and do their bidding hoping the King will let them kiss his ring.— October 7, 2014 9:17 a.m.
Name shame
Should "Mardi Gras" change its name? When there is a festival at the Greek Church, should they omit the "Greek" moniker because someone might not feel included? Let the people put on whatever festival they want. If you are not of that faith, but choose to come, enjoy it as if you were in a foreign country and visiting a local festival. Quit with the fake outrage and admit that you just want attention for your own selfish reasons.— August 24, 2014 5:24 p.m.
New blood for Sweetwater district?
Chris, I agree with you. I am very interested, though--what did Ms. Neylon say about Cuyamaca College? And does she tend to drag her child along with her to the Sweetwater meetings, or need to go pick her child up from school and leave early? Clearly she hasn't been able to balance her personal and public life with much success.— August 22, 2014 9:43 p.m.
New blood for Sweetwater district?
I still think it's time to spell out exactly how E2Manage was selected, and who owns the firm, who is employed by that firm, and what their relationship(s) are with any of the former board members.— August 21, 2014 6:45 a.m.
Bad son
Whoever decided he should have "unsupervised" probation should be named as an accessory.— July 31, 2014 7:15 a.m.
Cartmill for Sweetwater board — get real
I agree wholeheartedly with you, anniej. I do have to wonder, though, why a person like Mr. Cartmill would be so insensitive to their family and loved ones and behave in the manner they have. How embarrassing for the family and friends.— July 21, 2014 10:27 a.m.
We don’t want the stinkin’ charter expansion
Please examine very very closely the list of those supporting any of the candidates running for elected offices. And look closely for "Friend" contributions, where a mover and shaker who maxes out his/her contributions nudges friends and beholding subcontractors to pony up funds.— July 17, 2014 1:35 p.m.
