Mickelson melts down at U.S. Open
I was mentioning comments from Ted Leitner from twenty or thirty years ago. Not my opinions necessarily; if pro hockey has cleaned up its act, it may even meet his definition of a sport.— June 20, 2018 9:47 a.m.
Disbarred attorney Prevost raising funds
To keep my post brief, something I seldom do, I made no mention of this all being a scam. But that's the most obvious answer.— June 20, 2018 9:44 a.m.

So she left the dog in the room, huh? Dogs left in hotel/motel rooms frequently act up when left alone, and start to bark frantically and race through the room. Oh, and does the motel have any rules about leaving pets alone in the room unattended? Since this was Motel 6, I doubt it has any rules. With a dog going crazy in a room, there's a strong chance that when someone tried to enter the room and quiet it down, the dog escaped, or was allowed to escape. The occupant of a nearby room might have forced the door open and allowed the dog to escape. Lots to the story here that needs to be known.— June 20, 2018 7:52 a.m.
Engineer falls to death at Qualcomm
Since QCOM now has an excess of employees, largely "engineers", will they stop bellyaching about a lack of qualified applicants? And since these moves should result in a more rational organization, how about making the temporary employees into regular employees with benefits and some slight protection from arbitrary dismissal? Questions, questions I know. But that corporation and many others need to answer them. BTW, a recent article in Barrons, the financial weekly, had QCOM on a short list of recommended buys, claiming that it was undervalued by some typical Wall Street measures, and would be a secure source of dividends going forward. Its current yield is over 4%, and that's generous. Nothing there to suggest it is struggling at all. Or maybe Wall Street and Dow Jones are mistaken.— June 20, 2018 7:35 a.m.
Mickelson melts down at U.S. Open
I won't try to answer that question, 'cause I actually did spend time getting proficient at pocket billiards, i.e. pool. Ted Leitner had opinions that were strongly stated, and he said that neither professional hockey nor auto racing were sports. The auto racing was obvious, and I think he thought professional hockey had turned into a brawl and something more like professional wrestling.— June 18, 2018 4:50 p.m.
Mickelson melts down at U.S. Open
If he was smiling, it was because he knew that he couldn't win and decided to do some grandstanding. Good for entertainment I suppose.— June 18, 2018 3:26 p.m.
Mickelson melts down at U.S. Open
Could it be that his mind is on anything other than golf? He's not been a paragon of stability in a long time. Snapped? Yes, I guess you could say that.— June 18, 2018 11:32 a.m.
Trouble on Garfield Street

As I Lay Dying show at Soma sells out in four minutes
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but that group claimed to be Christian, and had such themes in the music and lyrics. But wasn't there testimony that Timmy had lost his faith prior to trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife? So, is the appeal here that the group is Christian, or just a novel assembly of personalities? We have been told for a long time that attempted murder gets the same sentence for the perp as a successful killing. Thus, I never understood how the tattooed freak received (depending on whose report was correct) a mere six or nine year sentence. Murder for hire is murder in the first with the special circumstance of murder for financial gain. But he's not doing LWOP or anything like that. In fact, he was paroled and has completed parole, meaning he's free as a bird. Compare his sentence to those recently imposed in the Lovejoy and McDavid attempted murder case, where they'll be lucky to ever walk free again. Something ain't right here.— June 15, 2018 7:27 p.m.
Would Amaze videos get you arrested elsewhere?
Over the past 25 years, I've had exposure to many SD County school districts. It amazes me to see how differently various districts approach teaching the same things. All these state mandates in the education code are subject to interpretation, and two different districts can reach diametrically opposite interpretations of the same directive. Generally the district that goes farthest overboard is the one that is misinterpreting. San Diego Unified can always be counted on to do something that upsets as many people as possible. It has a full time school board, and a huge bureaucracy reporting to the superintendent, and yet comes across as a befuddled pack of small town hicks. This fiasco comes across as if, instead of having an attorney look at the legal requirements, the district set up a committee to spend a year looking at the materials, and still got it wrong. (We all know how committees can make a mess of straightforward tasks.) Oceanside, well, is Oceanside. That school district manages to shoot itself in the foot frequently, and often doesn't even recognize the wound until someone else points it out.— June 13, 2018 3:18 p.m.
