San Diego is 12th greenest city
It takes a lot of resources of all kinds including non-renewables, to produce ethanol, for example. The publicity never mentions the costs and effects of such production. The sun may be different, and algae, but ALL fuels should be judged on the WHOLE story, not just the sale pitch. Of course, nobody wants to even mention relative efficiencies like sailing ships and dirigibles, or community design . . . that stuff is "out of the question." Shall we have a contest for the stupidest statements of all time? That one is my pick. Best, Tw— October 17, 2015 11:04 a.m.

"Nine-tenths of the hell being raised in this world is well-intentioned." I fergit who said it. The poor sentimental saps that fiddle with "recycling" xmas trees (at great expense and expenditure of resources like oil and steel and everything tied to everything involved), for example, really believe that the salvation of the earth lies in "renewable" fuels. (Too bad fools are renewable, eh?)— October 16, 2015 10:25 p.m.

It's like Bernie says, if we don't get off our lead a$$es (here we go again!) and LOOSE (the hounds of democracy) the rights of citizenship instead of just grousing and gossiping, we will LOSE those rights.— October 16, 2015 9:56 p.m.
SD emerges from Great Recession
"While the statistics are misleading, they are all we have. So it helps to follow them, even though one has doubts about them." I'm confused. It seems that if they are misleading (and they are), it would seem that one would be mislead if on followed them. Best, Tw— October 16, 2015 7:02 p.m.

That's why you have conservators. They know what causes disintegration, so they treat and store them properly. No big deal if you understand the principles involved. Go ahead and digitize; just don't destroy the actual historical artifact.— October 16, 2015 12:08 p.m.
Banker helped clients dodge money-laundering rules

No. It was "modern management." Newspapers survive in landfills. There's a big difference. I paid big money for a broken run of Horace Greely's rag from the 1850's. Still have it. Couldn't afford more. I hope some real collector's sucked them up.— October 15, 2015 9:43 p.m.
