Issa says criminal history should be shielded
The highest praise is sometimes in the form of faint damnation.— September 13, 2015 2:31 p.m.
Issa says criminal history should be shielded
No function of government should be placed in private hands. It a function should be in private hands, it needn't be a government function in the first place.— September 13, 2015 2:26 p.m.
Issa says criminal history should be shielded
The Devil's always in the details. As Racehorse Haines once said, "Sometimes the defense attorney's job is to convince the jury that the victim needed killin'." Sometimes a convicted murderer might have been given a medal instead--if there was such a thing as "justice." The main thing "we" need to do is to keep in mind that every single cultural invention is deeply flawed, especially when it is highly praised.— September 13, 2015 2:23 p.m.
La Costa developer Merv Adelson dead at 85
It's only happened twice, at least in any direct way. It's nothing like Hollywood, that's for sure.— September 13, 2015 2:06 p.m.

At least transgressions are not bullets--yet you ran the risk repeatedly when they could have been bullets at any time. I honor and respect you in that you have stood up like a man against them rather than be their lackey.— September 13, 2015 2:01 p.m.
Layoff czar takes over Union-Tribune
Back in the seventies I pitched the idea of a San Diego edition of the Times. It folded (no pun intended) after a few years. They weren't interested in the details, and I continue to maintain that the whole concept of how a newspaper is put together and run needs to be overhauled, especially in the Internet Age. The potential of the actual medium has yet to be realized, and the mess has gotten into even more of a tangle than when it started. I don't know if the obvious ever will hit them.— September 12, 2015 12:42 a.m.
Divorce of a billionaire (cont'd)
You really know how to hammer my stein.— September 12, 2015 12:17 a.m.
