Do the Vista Home Boys recruit like the Marines?
Then why don't you volunteer to fight them as a cop?— April 7, 2020 7:05 p.m.
Who will rent San Diego's Airbnbs?
"Debra Kuzma: I would seriously like to know, WHY people rent houses with yards when they have absolutely NO intention of doing any yardwork or hiring a gardener. Maybe Airbnb visitors are noisy, but at least the homes are properly maintained. Unlike the slovenly looking dumps occupied by long term renters, that bring down property values for everyone." Well Debbie, the deal is that private houses are owned by all types of different people, and some of those people are f**kn' slobs. That is allowable under the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights, documents you were probably never allowed to read in the Cham(less) School you went to. As for Airbnb, like with Uber and Lyft it was a scam from the outset, and everybody involved should have been ground into hamburger meat and fed to Rush Limbaugh, or otherwise be worked to death in lead-lined chain-gangs cleaning up the Fukushima radioactive zone in Japan.— April 7, 2020 7:01 p.m.
Governor Newsom clarifies order regarding closure of all but “essential” businesses
Crossin' lines dere, ain't 'cha?— April 5, 2020 12:10 a.m.

So was this a Duncan Shepherd review, or the new guy?— March 31, 2020 11:19 p.m.
Welcome, GOP Convention Delegates, to San Diego, City of Shame
Send this article to anybody who wants to move to San Diego. There should be a book on all the malfeasance and insanity that has gone on in San Diego and San Diego County, it would drive away people FOR YEARS.— March 29, 2020 3:07 p.m.
San Diego State – an elite school
A year later, under the new site design, this story still looks ridiculous. Not a word about how the previous SDSU president Elliot Hirshman sold naming rights to rooms in the new Engineering/Technology building, so that living people could have a plaque bolted to the wall with their name on it. This epidemic will be a make-or-break moment for the university - if the foreign students can't come, locals will not replace them. The decline in numbers (from all the students that weren't born during the Great Recession) is now beginning to bite in, and it will get worse in the next decade.— March 29, 2020 2:47 p.m.
San Ysidro – the town that San Diego would like to forget
This piece is like *Chinatown*, a film noir without the film.— March 23, 2020 10:09 a.m.
Local destroyers Howard and Pinckney unprepared for shooting war
They don't have enough people and too many ships.— March 23, 2020 9:57 a.m.
Susan Davis dumps Alaska Airlines, Royal Caribbean, loads up on Chinese surveillance giant Baidu
Yay! More sleaze!— March 23, 2020 9:52 a.m.
The mysterious end of the Neil Morgan era
This story is important today because it shows how the *Yoo-Tee* fell apart - it was a slow decay from the 1990s on. Say what you will about the crappy back room politics in San Diego, this cruddy town NEEDS a decent newspaper, not a newsletter with loads of national news as filler.— March 23, 2020 9:46 a.m.
