San Diego State – an elite school
Private schools and UC schools are elite, not San Diego State. Just because a lot of people want to get in doesn't make it "elite." It's an easy school to get in to, and a lot of students might be looking to move to San Diego. SDSU and "elite" are not part of the same equation.— August 21, 2019 9:20 a.m.
Homeless weigh heavy, even in Ocean Beach
I didn't think your comment was directed towards me. I just wanted to let you know that a lot of us really do care. Take care...— August 20, 2019 9:06 p.m.
Someone else's trash in Escondido is not your treasure
It's more than just dumping fees that are high. It's laziness, and the fact the some people just don't care. A friend of mine lives in a small suburb where the dump is FREE. People still dump on the side of the road. It's the mindset of lower class people who just don't care, whether they have the money or not. The dumping fees are much lower than the fines if you're caught.— August 19, 2019 8:11 p.m.
Someone else's trash in Escondido is not your treasure
This is disgusting. But you have no one to blame but yourself if you cheaply hire someone for "an ad on a street sign - $80." You get what you pay for. Hire licensed contractors. Nice things aren't cheap, and cheap things aren't nice. I hope the homeowner learned a valuable lesson.— August 19, 2019 1:38 p.m.
The deadly view from Sunset Cliffs
As a native San Diegan, this was a great read. Thanks for sharing!— August 19, 2019 11:08 a.m.
Homeless weigh heavy, even in Ocean Beach
Christopher - I've been volunteering helping people in need (including the homeless) since I was a teenager in the 70s. I'm in my late 50s, so over forty years experience.— August 18, 2019 9 p.m.
Homeless weigh heavy, even in Ocean Beach
No one is homeless by choice. They're homeless by circumstances. A lot of them "remain" homeless by choice, while others choose to get their act together. Most homeless people are homeless for a very short period of time. The ones we see are the chronically homeless. It's a serious problem throughout the world, and in San Diego (like anywhere in CA) it's out of control. Sadly, no one knows how to effectively deal with the homeless. If they did, we wouldn't be in this situation. It will only get worse, with no real solutions.— August 14, 2019 2:39 p.m.
The Tubes -- 12/19/19 at Belly Up Tavern
The Tubes rock! Haven't seen them since the 70s.— August 14, 2019 10:14 a.m.
Coronado millionaire residents put homes to the torch rather than endure “more subtle forms of community destruction.”
I wish I had rich people problems!— August 14, 2019 10:12 a.m.
Homeless weigh heavy, even in Ocean Beach
The homeless are everywhere. It's really out of control in CA because of the cost of living.— August 13, 2019 10:45 p.m.
