When dining is a choice between politics and survival
I have no desire to indoor dine, nor have I done outdoor dining during covid. It's take-out only. But I understand the "peaceful protests." Businesses are in business to make money. If being indoors was "too dangerous" they'd shut down grocery stores, dentist offices, etc. If a business wants to roll the dice, and people are willing to eat indoors -- more power to them. Hopefully most of us will be vaccinated eventually, and this nightmare will end.— February 16, 2021 5:33 p.m.
Conviction of Army & Navy headmaster for child abuse is overturned – updated 12-6-21
Great. Prosecute the SOB for the third time, and keep his a** in jail/prison where it belongs.— February 9, 2021 2:47 p.m.
Oceanside councilwoman doesn't live at 815 North Pacific Street
Any city will become "politically fouled up" if they don't have the right people on the city council, and Oceanside doesn't. It's not just Rodriguez.— February 3, 2021 8:29 a.m.
Oceanside councilwoman doesn't live at 815 North Pacific Street
I wonder why she would want to be a council person in Oceanside if she owns property there, but lives elsewhere. Until I read she registered to vote at that address in July, 2020. Is she planning on moving in, or did she do it for "city council" reasons.? My husband and I own two homes, but we're only registered to vote at the address where we live. Regardless, she doesn't sound qualified.— February 1, 2021 2:45 p.m.
Dad takes girls to Oceanside's Pit Stop Diner, ends up at Tijuana hotel
"He intends to act as his own attorney at his next court date." What an idiot. I'm glad the girls are okay.— January 26, 2021 8:36 a.m.
Carlsbad and Encinitas rebel against restaurant lock-downs
With the exception of fast food workers, most restaurant workers make their money in tips. They make more money than most people realize, especially if the restaurant serves alcohol. A friend of mine - her son made 93K in 2019 as a waiter working 30 hours per week. He needs a union or a raise in minimum wage like he needs a hole in the head.— January 22, 2021 8:50 a.m.
San Diego parks open for business
Good idea. California has had the most stringent lockdowns since day one, and highest (we're now 3rd) per capita Covid cases in the nation. At times, I feel like we're doing all this for nothing. Outdoor gathering (with masks and social distancing, etc.) are safer than indoors, and now that we have a vaccine, it's time to slowly but surely start living again.— January 19, 2021 8:37 a.m.
How high are the hidden costs of restaurant delivery?
Paying 45 percent more to have your food delivered is insane. It's even higher if you tip well. The last food I had delivered was pizza in the 90s, and you could tip a few bucks with no delivery fees, etc.— January 10, 2021 2:29 p.m.
Recall pending, Faulconer pivots hard against Newsom
Thank you monaghan... Happy New Year!— January 2, 2021 5:15 p.m.
Recall pending, Faulconer pivots hard against Newsom
monaghan, I'm wearing a mask and not going anywhere, unless you count the store, etc. I'm bored to death with the lockdown, but it beats the alternative of severe illness or death. It could happen to any of us, and I promise not to "act like a Republican."— January 2, 2021 1:15 p.m.
