Hilton management uses assault, intimidation in attempt to silence protesters
Bad show, Hilton. Not just the ripping off of the employees -- stifling their right to speak, and then roughing up a reporter, and then denying the whole thing. Super weak! I won't be staying at a Hilton again.— August 30, 2012 8:52 a.m.
U.S. Dentist Fears Patient Safety, Income Loss From Cross-Border Competition
Um, Joaquin, you think universal dental coverage is somehow impossible? I think the US would be up to the challenge. After all, plenty of other countries currently provide universal dental coverage to their citizens. Not free, of course. Paid for via taxes. But thanks to economies of scale, the average citizen in one of those countries pays a lot less for dental than we do here in the US. and hey... added bonus... every citizen in those countries gets their teeth taken care of! personally i think this would be an impressive and noble achievement here in America. though i realize not everyone shares my concern for my fellow Americans.— December 25, 2011 4:49 p.m.
The Tragedy of the Chicken
Thank you for your comments. You're all correct that Dad did not play this one by the fatherhood guidebook. In Dad's defense, his parenting was usually on-point, and this type of slip-up was rare. Pets were a weak spot for him, for whatever reason. In addition to that poor chicken, I can remember quickly three other pet-related unhappy endings, involving a parakeet, a golden retriever puppy, and a dog named Sniffer, who we got from the pound...— January 15, 2010 3 p.m.
My Agent Says
I hope so, especially if it's all going to be as tasty as this. Good stuff. Opening stanza is tremendous.— January 14, 2010 7:42 p.m.
Sorry, Citizen Journalist
DMaass, that U-T piece is amazing. I didn't realize the extent of the information lockdown Sanders put in with strong mayor. Big weak on Sanders for promising new transparency and delivering buckets of shade. He even invokes Ronald Reagan with his do-not-recall defense there. Yikes. I have to think if The Reader has non grata status with the city, it would be largely related to Don Bauder's persistent spotlighting of City Hall shenanigans.— January 14, 2010 7:30 p.m.
