The Irishman
Well it took you long enough to review it, but STOP with the bashing! Like I said in the other review, no one else was interested in his project at the time. So what do you expect him to do??? Answer me this, do you NOT see theatrically released films produced by Amazon??? I don't see you boycotting them. This is Scorsese's magnum opus about eastcoast crime and corruption. NOthing we haven't seen before, but it is very well executed. Pesci is subtle yet menacing. Bobby D is excellent. AP overplays, but oh well, nothing is perfect. Mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto is back again behind the camera for Scorsese. Great period-catching.— December 13, 2019 3:32 p.m.
Richard Jewell
In defense of Scorsese, I'd like to remind you that Netflix was the ONLY company interested in his project. What else is a genius to do???— December 13, 2019 3:25 p.m.
Temblores (Tremors)
In other words,it at least makes an attempt at some complexity, UNLIKE its simplistic sloganeering Hollywood counterparts.— December 13, 2019 3:23 p.m.
Children of the Immaculate Hate?
Don't even know where to start with you, Mencken. First of all, this isn't even a news report but a rant in the form of a preachy quote. Secondly, Redlite purposely confuses human trafficking with sex trafficking which the San Diego Public Defender, CLEARLY made a distinction at a recent workshop. And thirdly, eye - mote -beam. I strongly urge you,Mencken and Redlite,to read Camile Paglia, if you have the courage, and get off your horse, it's TOO high.— December 13, 2019 3:20 p.m.
The Good Liar
Sir Ian did a good job playing a convincing heterosexual octogenarian.— December 12, 2019 1:33 p.m.
Knives Out
"also the investigation spearheaded by Daniel Craig in full Southern accent, for some reason. " The REASON, Lick, is that his character is from Louisiana hence his name, Benoit Blanc, AND a nod to Christie's Hercule Poirot. But you, as usual, were too busy eating cheese popcorn and sipping on your Chinnot Blanc instead of paying attention!— December 12, 2019 1:30 p.m.
A drunken bacchanal from Vincente Minnelli, Stanley Donen, and Rock Hudson
Okay, so WHERE are these playing locally???— December 10, 2019 2:34 p.m.
Fox Theatre at 90: Pandora's Box -- 11/23/19 at Jacobs Music Center
One of the best silents and can match up with the best talkies--scene by scene. Only to be outdone by Pabst himself with the even more outrageous "Diary of A Lost Girl."— November 19, 2019 4:33 p.m.
By the Grace of God
I understand it is far more intelligent and complex than the self-righteous and pedestrian "Spotlight" with its one-note Mark Ruffalo performance.— November 19, 2019 4:07 p.m.
Motherless Brooklyn
Wait, "Joker" wasn't sentimentalized.— November 4, 2019 4:14 p.m.
