Mayor Gloria gets executive coaching from Get It Done contractor
This is so crooked. It's bad enough that donors can give or "behest" money to charities "on behalf of" politicians and it's allowed. But allowing them to comp their normally paid professional services to the elected officials who will decide on awarding public contracts for those very same services is appalling. What's next — allowing car dealers and developers to give politicians free cars and houses?— January 20, 2021 3:40 p.m.
Toronto real estate giant is funder behind killing height limit
Not sure how my comment violated the usage agreement. It literally was nothing more than a link to a quote from an editorial by the spokespersons for 'Yes on E' published in the Union-Tribune on September 29, with a statement that this report reveals as being verifiably false. I respectfully request it be restored and/or the violation alleged be stated. Thank you.— October 29, 2020 11:22 a.m.

"[We are proud that this effort did not originate with big developers or corporate interests. Measure E was created by the community, for the community.][1]" Thank you for this excellent reporting exposing the claims of the 'Yes on E' spoxes as the shameless lies they are. How to make Hillcrest and El Cajon Blvd. mad
Sorry, but there's just no way that Chris Ward isn't deeply involved in this. As with his [back-door dealings with the DMV][1] to give up their land in Hillcrest, he's always engaged in schemes to benefit his developer donors but feigns innocence when exposed. Just imagine the scandals if he gets in the Assembly. [1]: https://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2020/jan/22/c…— August 19, 2020 11:28 a.m.
12-story buildings sprinkled around San Diego
Community Plans are intended to provide fair and clear rules made by neighborhood determination for all developers to follow. But during the past decade, with the rise of land-use lobby shops run as "charities," the big boys have been able to launder political contributions as tax-deductible "donations." The more bang for the buck this has bought them has now culminated in the Complete Communities Plan, which as this article reveals will have intentionally confused zoning and murky allowances that admit endless exceptions. So the lobbyists got paid to deliberately muck things up, the politicians got paid to allow it, and now the whole scheme is being cast in concrete without community approval by shamelessly exploiting a pandemic to shove it through. But don't worry about the "charities" going out of business once this is done: [they'll get paid again when they have to be hired as fixers for all projects going forward][1]. How San Diego County voted – so far
Regarding the San Diego mayoral race: what seems to be missed by many is the fact that, no matter who ends up in second place, the lawsuit against Todd Gloria filed last August [[2019-43494][1]] is still ongoing. Furthermore, now the plaintiff is empowered under [Section 91007(a)][2] of the PRA to take over the civil prosecution, as neither the District Attorney nor the City Attorney ever responded [within the 120 day statutory period][3]. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2020/m… http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2020/m… [1]: https://roa.sdcourt.ca.gov/roa/faces/CaseSearch.x… [2]: http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_dis… [3]: https://timesofsandiego.com/politics/2019/08/14/a…— March 9, 2020 1:11 p.m.
San Diego's fragile ethics commission
Thursday night [2/6/20], Wahlstrom [called the rejection][1] “disappointing but not surprising.” “There’s no way the [San Diego Ethics Commission]’s staff could have reviewed all the allegations, evidence and laws even superficially and then spit out a lengthy rejection letter in just a few hours,” he said via email. “Please forgive me for believing that the fix was in and the staff’s denial letter was simply awaiting a complainant’s name and address to slap on top. All the more reason I will have to continue with my lawsuit.” The system is rigged to punish the powerless and protect the connected. Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender and Queer Caucus fronts effort for Todd Gloria
Guessing the *Reader* deadline didn't allow for revelation of what that February 10 mailer for Gloria contained; below is a photo of it. It shows that, beyond the sponsors you reveal, the top contributors (defined as "[$50,000 or more][1]") are Chevron and Southern California Edison. So this 'caucus' is laundering fossil fuel industry money into the campaign of someone running as Mr. Climate Action Plan. Wonder what they think they'll get for their money that we don't? Also, although this 'caucus' declares itself an "Independent Expenditure Committee," Gloria is one of the eight leaders of it; and the mailer itself uses the exact official logo artwork and photo from his campaign. Per [the FPPC manual][2] for such groups, "An expenditure is **not considered independent** of a candidate or committee if: It is made at the request, suggestion, or direction of, or in cooperation, consultation, or coordination with the candidate or committee for whose benefit the expenditure is made..." It beggars belief that somehow Gloria was shocked when he found this in his mailbox. All of which illustrates that, just as Trump has been emboldened by a pass of impeachment from a partisan Senate to even more lawlessness, Gloria has emerged reassured that complaints to the pro-incumbent FPPC and complicit San Diego Ethics Commission will be ignored (in breach of their legal obligations) to double-down on corruption. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2020/f… [1]: http://www.fppc.ca.gov/content/dam/fppc/NS-Docume… [2]: http://www.fppc.ca.gov/content/dam/fppc/NS-Docume…— February 17, 2020 11:30 a.m.
