Bitter Candy
I was in a condo, right behind the stage and saw the silly curtain they set up around Madonna's car. It totally didn't make sense because anyone could see her walking the 100 feet from behind the stage to where her car was waiting, so what's the point of not being able to see her the last three feet as she's getting into the car? Was she worried about the paparazzi getting a crotch shot?— December 17, 2008 6:47 p.m.
Vacancy
Yikes! This movie scared the crap out of me! Wasn't expecting much going in, but I gotta give it some props for making my heart race and making me jump outta my seat a couple times. Reminded me of the early Halloween movies -- was fun to watch something from the classic-style horror genre: car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, couple tries to run/hide from creepy guy trying to murder them. Much prefer this to the let's-see-how-gory-we-can-get Saw-style flicks that seem to be all the rage these days. (P.S. Reading Duncan's review here, I just gotta LOL that the director's name is Nimrod!)— October 29, 2008 1:07 p.m.
Orlando
Talk about poetry in motion. This movie is a shining example of why film is considered an art form. Sally Potter does an amazing job with Woolf's biography -- one of those rare occasions where I actually prefer the film to the book. I'm surprised Duncan only gave it one star...seems right up his alley.— October 6, 2008 9:34 a.m.
