You can talk to Ben Hueso face to face. He has office hours in Chula Vista today, Thursday from 4-7 PM- call 619-409-7690 to RSVP. If you can't make it, at least leave a message stating your outrage at this flagrant abuse of power (past, present and ongoing) Also, Shirley Weber (Assembly member for parts of CV) will have a Town Hall meeting this Sat and a Coffee Chat the weekend before the next board meeting. Sweetwater scandal: Ed Brand’s claims contradicted
No, not McCann. He'll announce it next month. I think you'll be happy. Sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned it but I was excited.— June 4, 2013 12:31 p.m.
Sweetwater scandal: Ed Brand’s claims contradicted
Don't worry about Jim Cartmill running for mayor. There's someone else in CV who wants the job, and he has integrity and name recognition. I hope he makes it public soon.— June 3, 2013 8:40 p.m.
Safety of Sweetwater school district’s buses below par
The buck stops with Ed Brand and the board. A majority of the board is voting with Brand and against the community. Let me refresh your memory who we can thank for the new leadership: Excerpt from an October 19, 2012 article in La Prensa about Ms. Quinones' re-election. *Question*: From Gandara to Brand, how did this come about? There was a lot of support for a new Superintendent. *Quinones*: After separating from Gandara we had to find a replacement that same day to get us through the transition. We didn’t feel there was anybody in-house who could fill the position. **John McCann** then suggested Ed Brand. *Question*: How did Brand become permanent? *Quinones*: The very first time I heard about going in this direction was in November when McCann brought it up. This was after I was put in charge of heading a search committee for a Superintendent but **McCann**, who was Board president then, never gave the go-ahead to start the process. timtim, McCann has not been indicted, but there is definitely a perception of back-door deals.— May 31, 2013 9:38 a.m.

I've suggested before that we write letters to the editor and the response was "been there, done that." OK, before I go spinning my wheels, could I have a list of names of officials and agencies contacted by anyone you know? Previous posts have mentioned the CV City council, the County Board of Ed and Bill Moyers.— May 28, 2013 11:54 p.m.
Sweetwater school district board approves Alliant partnership
I can't believe it! I take it back,.... yes, I can. "The beginning of a dance" my a...! You guys just signed a marriage contract. Now we can look forward to the costly and messy divorce. But in the meantime, this marriage of convenience will cost the district plenty. I don't believe for a minute that there will be "no fiscal impact." And how does it benefit the kids???? But I guess I'm being naive. It's not really about the students, is it? Reading this is no way to spend my lunch! I just lost my appetite.— May 17, 2013 12:04 p.m.

Did I miss something? What 300 names are you talking about?— May 15, 2013 9:45 p.m.

Regarding the credit card charges, I know I'm knit picking here, but Brand says "there are procedures in place" to prevent abuse including an $18 limit for lunch, however, a lunch in Sacramento was billed at $45. Hmmm. He goes on to say that spending "should be monitored" (notice he didn't say that *it is* being monitored) I'm glad the public is monitoring this! Also, submitting purchase orders is "too complicated????" That's how schools run. Everyone fills out purchase orders and everyone has to wait to be reimbursed.— May 14, 2013 4:29 p.m.
Sweetwater school district to team with Alliant University?
Just back from the Sweetwater School Board Meeting. What a sad state of affairs. But I'm not discouraged! There's more work to be done. Isn't it interesting that the video was pulled down just after Mr. Vasquez played the audio for everyone? I had just watched it on the district website a few minutes earlier and I couldn't believe that they had actually put it on the district website before the board had a chance to discuss (and vote) on the "contract" that wasn't. I guess they do have some shame. Hmmm, community pressure is having an effect.— May 13, 2013 11:04 p.m.
Montgomery Adult School’s last Viva Vida conference?
I'm willing to attend my local school in Eastlake, but I will need a list of facts and figures (talking points) as well as web addresses or documents (board minutes?) to support my claims. Can someone help?— May 1, 2013 4:06 p.m.
