Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
I'm sure that one is for the BOC. Is the air travel include? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. But seriously, thank you both for the info I don't have time to find.— June 20, 2013 3:31 p.m.

People do care! I'm new and I know 10 new, active people. I also talk to friends who are shocked by what I tell them. They may not go to board meetings (although one surprised me by showing up with two more people) and they won't post comments here, but they will vote. But you made me realize that I need to stop grumbling to my friends and encouraging them to talk to their friends and take them to next week's meeting. 1,000s of people calling Sacramento got schools more money. Now we need to use the same methods to help the district. This bears repeating: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead— June 20, 2013 8:46 a.m.

Bob C. I agree with anniej. I am one of those who never paid attention in the past. Now I stay up untiil dawn reading the grand jury transcripts. I have been talking to people and they are listening. We are reaching a tipping point. What's that quote ? Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has. I think there is enough evidence to show Mr. McCann's ineptitude and disdain for people. As a parent it occurs to me that children love attention even negative attention. It might be more effective not to respond to timtim or answer every comment with a simple: yawn. Being ignored infuriates children.— June 19, 2013 2:17 p.m.

I know I'm not going to make any friends with this comment, but please rant to your significant other and only then reply to timtim. Yes, everyone is watching (and reading) and I understand the frustration and anger (I feel it too!) but I think we alienate readers and community members with too much acrimony. We lose credibility if we sink to name calling and cursing. Don't take the bait. Don't waste your breath. Let's state the facts, repeat what may have been forgotten (thank you anniej for doing that) and continue to raise awareness. Maybe we could start our own blog to vent our frustrations with reckless abandon. I'm sure we could get pretty creative and have a good laugh, too.— June 19, 2013 10:44 a.m.

Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
Thank you for the link. The article is in Spanish and although Google translate isn't great, it's good enough. Here’s the first paragraph: CHULA VISTA - Around 7000 students and 80 teachers of Adult Education will be affected if closure of Adult Schools, in communities of the South Bay, is carried out. Wow - 7,000 students?! I didn’t realize it was that many. I wish they would all start going to board meetings and read these posts. That’s how I got started. We need to reach out to the Spanish speakers. How about we use Google translate to post some of the more important details? I’ll get the word out to some Mexican friends who are really angry about the mello roos. Speaking of which, did you see/ hear the KPBS report about mello roos overcharges in North County? Here's a link (cut and paste) http://www.kpbs.org/news/2013/jun/12/homeowners-o… There’s an interactive map, too: http://maps.inewsource.org/mello-roos/— June 16, 2013 2:15 p.m.

I Googled it too. It looks like Montgomery Adult has been having classes in Imperial Beach all along. Boston Reed College Catalog Montgomery Adult School 170 Palm Avenue Imperial Beach, CA 91932 TBA SAT: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM If I read the board documents right, it looks like they're going to fire about 100 people. It doesn't make any sense.— June 14, 2013 10:19 p.m.
