Hey, Chula Vista Elementary School District, test this

School officials Gandara and Sandoval plead guilty
The new money coming to the district through LCFF has some strings attached, namely that the district get community input. You can read a long article about it in Sunday's UT. The Sweetwater district website shows a community meeting planned for this Thursday April 10 from 6-8 but it doesn't say where. Does anyone know? We need to get the word out.— April 6, 2014 8:34 p.m.
School officials Gandara and Sandoval plead guilty
The saddest thing is that at the end of the day, whether they plead guilty or innocent, whether these men go to jail or not, the money that was squandered will never be returned to the students. And what about all the tax dollars spent bringing these folks to this stage? It just seems like an enormous amount of money that could have been better spent elsewhere. I can think of many worthy causes that would love to have even a small portion of the lost money. They have caused so many people to spend so much energy and such heartache, and for what? What a colossal waste!— April 4, 2014 6:38 p.m.
Ed talks out of school
SpecialEd is a piece of satire: "the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues." But I'm glad it gave you the opportunity to vent. SpecialEd - it seems you need a disclaimer after your post.— April 1, 2014 11:12 a.m.
Quinones, Ricasa, Cartmill, Cabello weigh pleas vs. fighting
This is not related to your post, but I think you'll like it. It's a glowing report on Career Technical Education classes in Georgia. http://www.theatlantic.com/james-fallows/— March 27, 2014 3:43 p.m.
Quinones, Ricasa, Cartmill, Cabello weigh pleas vs. fighting
It's confirmed. Mrs. Lopez won't be there.— March 24, 2014 12:04 p.m.
Sweetwater trustees to vote on property sale
How did this link to massage parlors get here? Susan, please remove it. Thanks— March 18, 2014 1:30 p.m.
Sweetwater district teachers vote on strike
If you are referring to the CFO Mr. Alt, what prevents him from speaking out? If he was fired for trying to be ethical, I wonder why we've never heard any more from him? Did he have to sign a secrecy clause of some kind?— March 13, 2014 10:54 p.m.
Sweetwater Union and Chula Vista Elementary districts to merge?
Susan, can you contact Mary Salas's office and ask her what her motivation/rationale is for exploring unification? To say that the Ed Code gives her the power to do it isn't good enough. Didn't she contact people and do her own research? If nobody is interested (school districts, community, SD County Board of Ed) why waste everyone's time? Unless she has a plan that spells out the benefits to the community, especially the children, she's misusing her position.— January 31, 2014 10:42 a.m.
Classroom shenanigans in Sweetwater school district?
Who ever heard of a principal encouraging parents to take students out of his school? What I don't understand is what the district gets out of this? Taking students from one school and enrolling them in another doesn't increase the bottom line. What am I missing?— January 28, 2014 10:26 p.m.
