Happenings in the Hollywood Hills; or, Who Needs Escondido?
Some modest advice from someone more older..scratch that, more mature than you. The only way I've been able to get the things I want in life, is to "Believe" I already have them! Act as if you are really going to attend that screenwriting class...reach out to friends for financial help, prepare for the class, make your arrangements, and then get packed! This approach truly works...— March 29, 2012 8:46 a.m.
Nathan Fletcher Exits GOP Via YouTube
Well...Fletcher's "currency" just went up a whole lot given this decision to leave the GOP and become an independent. I doubt that it will change his 3rd place position in the upcoming election, but it may position him for future political runs. The national GOP has made a dramatic swing to the right, and I can see lots of politicians jumping ship in the coming months. When the party suffers an historic loss In November, everyone will wish to become independents!— March 28, 2012 9:05 a.m.
Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona.
Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona where we lived for 6 years prior to our return to San Diego. The Lake is a real jewel set among dramatic mountains. Off in the distance are the snowy peaks that surround Flagstaff, AZ...90 miles away!— March 24, 2012 7:25 a.m.
A Cold Wind Blows in Rancho Bernardo
Mindy Interesting, but according to current crime stats, RB is one of the safest areas in San Diego County. (Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.) We know of that French Restaurant, but haven't tried it yet. We will make it a point to say hi to your "little sister." As to your writing, "act as if" you ARE A Writer...and things will begin to happen. You appear to be doing just that by writing. Good luck on your fiction novel. Lar— February 21, 2012 7:25 a.m.
A Cold Wind Blows in Rancho Bernardo
I'm new to Rancho Bernardo, but not to San Diego County. You are right...RB was always considered a retirement community made up of Seniors with lots of disposable income. (I can say that being one of those so called "Seniors.") But after 6 years in Arizona, I've come back to a different Rancho Bernardo. I'm sure the demographics have changed...and that's good! I see lots of young families and kids, and that is the future. I personally don't believe in "retirement" (Webster's II: A place of seclusion). At 72 I'm too young to retire! Anyway...I'm rambling a bit from the subject. I envision great things for RB...especially if the demographics continue to shift. By the way Mindy, your writing is very original and engaging. Keep it up. Lar— February 19, 2012 7:08 a.m.
"A Week After," by Sarai Austin
A very nice and tenderhearted poem about the loss of ones pet. I don't see any "dark humor" in this at all; just a very sensitive account of how an animal is missed.— August 16, 2011 8:45 a.m.
Books or e-reader?
While I really believe ebooks will become more of the rage, I still personally enjoy the "feel" and "aroma" of a great book. (That probably also goes for an average one!) Reading is a love affair for me...so I don't need one more techie item to come between us.— July 16, 2011 8:33 a.m.
