Carl gets the rake
Bob yells, I like that.— July 16, 2013 12:23 p.m.
It's a lynching until proven otherwise
We should judge our Mayor when specifics are revealed, but his accusers actions are already ridiculous at best. We should consider that If any alleged acts are between the Mayor and his personal staff, his resignation would result in his staff losing their jobs. Nobody in this circus cares about the elephants, those ladies who were offended.— July 16, 2013 11:27 a.m.
It's a lynching until proven otherwise
I read the same hit piece as IMJ, and nothing described would be unusual on San Diego streets. The issue here is consent, we need the politicians to shut up and listen to the concerned parties. The "Jamming his tongue down her throat" is just flat hilarious. I wish I could do that, and I'm a giant reptile. The woman in question must have had her mouth closed tightly, since she wasn't willing. This sounds more like bragging than complaining. The plaintiffs here should fire their attorney, he's not helping them by playing this as a power grab, and making them a laughing stock by sheer ineptitude. I know a woman who can touch the tip of her nose with her tongue, she keeps attacking me while I try to play music, I have photos. Are we doing something wrong?— July 15, 2013 8:53 p.m.
It's a lynching until proven otherwise
The alleged victims are adults, therefore everything described so far is perfectly legal, if there is consent. Let's listen to the victims when they make their statements, not opportunist politicians prancing in front of the cameras. Prominent LG people should stay out of this, naturally they find heterosexual escapades disgusting, that's why they are LG. If they turn their disgust into crusade they are no better than homophobics. Filner only needs help from one quarter in this fight, that's the women involved, if they show mercy, he's fine. As long as there is no violence involved, or misuse of position.— July 15, 2013 7:37 p.m.
Big people talk about issues; small people talk about people
Filner so far has fought off the crooks, jumped on the train, and applied the brakes, the City is still tied to the railroad tracks certainly. He has stopped some expensive fiascos, and made some powerful enemies. The City's train wreck is gravy train to some.— July 13, 2013 11:35 a.m.
Big people talk about issues; small people talk about people
Whatever Bob Filner has done, this circus is disgraceful. The idiotic pretense of concern for the victims privacy should fool no one. This story will be known, and I tend to believe accusers in these matters, but those who admit to hiding important facts should spare us their opinions. Let any accusers come forward with facts, and let's respect those accusers. I can't respect those who demand resignation for a secret crime, and the public threat to share secret facts unless demands are met disgraces completely. If these facts concern a crime, they can't be lawfully withheld. And if they don't, what are we talking about?— July 12, 2013 7:42 p.m.
Big people talk about issues; small people talk about people
When lawyers quote poets, they lack facts. Filner did not approve the Sunroad project, the council overrode his veto, this fact seems to be lost, if there is corruption, and I believe Sunroad corrupt, the focus should be on the council, if the money never paid the City is supposedly corrupt, then we should consider that the money Sunroad poured into City elections, checks that were actually cashed, might help explain why Sunroad believes it can ignore property law, and build in violation. I support Filner, but welcome an investigation. I voted for Filner as a good guy with a bad temper. He usually makes the right enemies.— July 12, 2013 12:14 p.m.
Did City Attorney Jan Goldsmith lift the suspension on closed session meetings?
Seems to me that those who can't take verbal abuse aren't really attorneys. That's part of the job. Goldsmith will never live down that chalking case, and if he can't take contempt and ridicule he has no choice but to retire. Hiding will not help, it only makes him more ridiculous.— July 8, 2013 5:57 p.m.
U.S. investigating $100,000 donation, Channel 10 says
I can't see what the Mayor delivered for Sunroad The Council overrode his veto, so his support was unnecessary to their scam. Sunroad erects another illegal building, the council approves the law breaking, and the scandal is supposed to be focused on the Mayor, who stood in the the way of the steamroller, but could only delay the theft. Sunroad might be coconspirator with parts of our city government, Mike Aguirre wanted to investigate the possibility, but Filner would be the last I would suspect. The Mayor seems to be more enemy than friend to Sunroad.— July 7, 2013 5:35 p.m.
U.S. investigating $100,000 donation, Channel 10 says
That Sunroad actually spelled out the quid pro quo on the checks prove that the whole thing is intentional smear, but in fact Filner did nothing for the donations, because his veto and his office had been bypassed before the check was written. At most the payment was for dropping his objections on a matter where his office had been sidestepped. Regardless I would love for the Grand Jury and the Feds to subpoena Sunroad and everyone who took a check from them. I suspect Tom Story might be frog hopping in orange along with the many who took Sunroad money, and if he kept on singing, ten years of City Government might be perp hopping to the his tune. More likely this gets hushed up quickly.— July 7, 2013 2:44 p.m.
