Laura Fink's campaign role with Todd Gloria
I believe the accusers are truthful as to basic facts, but the timing of these complaints is very poor, and very relevant. We've known Bob Filner was running for mayor for about two years. He's been on the ballot constantly really. Why not come forward and make a case before the real judge here, the electorate, before the election? Ms. McCormack Jackson is the only one so far with a timely complaint, I believe her facts, but important facts are missing. Mayor Filner should not turn the City checkbook over to Todd Gloria without a vote of the people. We call it Democracy, live with it.— July 26, 2013 12:19 a.m.
Filner may be the winner in last two accusations
Filner 55 DeMaio 44 is the score that counts. Why didn't these accusers come forward before the election?— July 25, 2013 7:43 p.m.
Laura Fink's campaign role with Todd Gloria
I believe the creepy stuff, and there's nothing to be gained by attacking these accusers, but I wish they said this stuff at the time of the incidents, if they want a different mayor their timing is very poor. A year ago we could have found someone else to run for Mayor and the election would be fair. Now the Mayor is told to make Todd Gloria acting mayor by the creepiest process imaginable. It's like Al Gore campaigning for Clinton's impeachment. The people can make Todd Gloria mayor, but Filner must not. BTW Fink & Gonzales no longer have a website or Facebook page last I looked, which is why I haven't linked everyone to my source for her Fletcher and Gloria work.— July 25, 2013 7:31 p.m.
Laura Fink's campaign role with Todd Gloria
Also worked for Nathan Fletcher for mayor. In her KPBS interview, she plainly states her hatred of Filner. Take her word for it, she's not trying to be fair, she hated her boss, but wanted references, she got them. Even if everything she describes is true, and I believe her facts, this means nothing. This doesn't support McCormack Jackson because it's completely different. A single touch never repeated after a warning doesn't support the accusation of ignoring repeated warnings and continuing an unwanted smooch attack for months. A normal employee should be relieved of duties and fired after these allegations proved true. But the Mayor is not a normal employee, he represents the policy choices of the electorate, and must be replaced only after a vote of the people. Those who urge his resignation after a media circus pervert democracy. Get your recall on, pay those homeless people to collect signatures, have an election. We have laws for this.— July 25, 2013 4:59 p.m.
Filner may be the winner in last two accusations
I've heard from a close personal friend that worked with Ms. McCormack Jackson, that she is a real Democrat, credible, and unlikely to be part of any conspiracy to undo the election. This suggests there may be a path out of this mess. Filner has not been accused of any crime and plaintiff has a dubious court claim. Nevertheless. under city policy a normal employee would be put on administrative leave immediately, and justly fired eventually, for the described actions. I support this policy. But the Mayor is not a normal employee, he represents the result of an election, and by law can only be removed by another election. His resignation would mean turning over the City to people who are openly contemptuous of, and openly plan to subvert, the policies the voters intended when they elected Filner. The perversion of justice in this far exceeds anything Filner has done. The attorneys in the case must fashion a settlement that punishes and restricts the Mayor, but preserves the policies that both plaintiff and defendant endorse. The alternative is a trial that would play as international farce, and like any good farce, would have an unpredictable ending.— July 25, 2013 11:19 a.m.
Questions about McCormack Jackson suit
I'm hearing from my band mate who worked with her at the Port Authority years ago, that Ms. McCormack Jackson is a Democrat, in tune with Filner's philosophy, and basicly reliable. He believes her, and points out that any employee would likely be justly fired for the reported behavior. But with the choice being between Filner and the shocking opportunists Todd Gloria or Nathan Fletcher, he finds it hard to recommend resignation. Remember that resignation means firing Filner's staff, who are innocent victims in the scandal. The sliver of hope in these facts is that Ms.Jackson likely isn't doing this to help Todd Gloria, and therefore might accept a result that teaches a lesson about the bad behavior, but leaves real Democrats in charge of City Hall. Perhaps Filner might work from home while receiving treatment. A settlement that doesn't steal my vote, but restricts Filner's behavior and punishes him is possible, we should hope that the attorneys involved are now working on this, because we don't know who would win a recall or court battle, but we know the city would be a clown show.— July 25, 2013 3:20 a.m.

Questions about McCormack Jackson suit
We must not let Todd Gloria get his hands on the checkbook even for a day. If that is the result, Filner should never resign. If it can be arranged that an election can be held turning over power to a newly elected Mayor then he should consider resigning. Personally, it's not about Filner, it's about the City, and a free and fair transparent process. People want to reverse my vote by what is so far, a shocking smear without real legal merit. If you think these plaintiffs harmed, and lets assume everything they say is true, their alleged pain does not compare to what they are doing to the Mayor, completely destroying him. A pat on the rear, and an unwanted proposal are considered reason to overturn an election and give control of the city to shocking hypocrites. He was voted in, and if someone doesn't like that, vote him out.— July 24, 2013 6:28 p.m.

I don't want to say this, but she forces us, Donna Frye lived through the seventies with the rest of us, and is a complete hypocrite about sex and drinking when she attacks Filner. If she forgets, many here remember, and supported her wholeheartedly as a recovered alcoholic and....respectable married woman. Her performance at these press conferences sent eyebrows through the roof here at the Beach. I— July 24, 2013 4:55 p.m.
