What she portrays as acts of depravity, any normal person would see as the acts of a very nice man, who reaches out to each and everyone, even those that most people would find disgusting. "Media lynching" is what is called a "metaphor". Use your own if you don't like Mr' Bauder's. I've suspected you were getting your thinking from jokesters, but still I'm surprised you would cite them as relevant. It's been reported many places that a PI has been following Bob Filner, bugging is just one possible technique. There can be hysteria without pitchforks and torches, I would suggest that the tiny Anti Filner crowds make your point better. The hysteria is obviously in the media and nowhere else. We should not blame the ladies who came forward, they were asked for help by law enforcement investigating a sexual predator. Nobody's reputation would survive a well publicised personal sexual predator hot line, since usually these are reserved for serial killers, and people want to help. Bob Filner worked in Washington for years, yet no one there has come forward. The difference is the media frenzy and hotline, and the way a touch changes into a grope based on intent. The Mayor is said to have a history, but we're still waiting for one document, one photograph, one video of the allegedly habitual and uncontrolled behavior of a very public man. We do have a document of lewd behavior from the UT. Hip Hop fans for respecting women??? Unbelievably stupid. Can't dance also.— August 15, 2013 1:04 p.m.

No one's reputation can survive a well publicised personal sexual predator hotline. What surprises is the weakness of the allegations. We shouldn't blame those who come forward, they believe they are assisting law enforcement. Remember, a hug from the Mayor becomes a grope, a friendly 'let's get together' becomes solicitation of sex, when you believe that person is a sexual predator. The number of allegations is surprisingly low considering a three woman crew is working 24hrs a day for weeks now, according to reports. Law enforcement must be called to account for this loathsome scheme, perpetrated openly and gleefully by the righteous hypocrites that run this town.— August 14, 2013 3:07 p.m.

JustWondering, If the alleged actions happened outside his job, then it's not workplace sexual harassment, and the suit collapses, and obviously has no bearing on his fitness to do his job, so long as no crime is alleged. An attorney hired by the defense, who conspires with plaintiff to give defendant's money or other consideration, breaks the law. Goldsmith may truly believe that it is the City's interest to compel Filner to resign, but City law says he's the Mayor, because the People, at the last time they voted, made him Mayor. When an attorney, like Marco Gonzalez perhaps, knows a client is not telling the truth, he must resign from the case, ethics say he must not breach confidentiality by revealing that belief.
