Qualcomm's Jacobs fishing for funds for Fletcher
Strange that in all the alleged statements, to all accusers. Bob Filner never actually directly asked for sex, except to McCormack as "Let's consummate our relationship.". What relationship?— September 7, 2013 1:05 p.m.
Qualcomm's Jacobs fishing for funds for Fletcher
Many of the issues that divide the city aren't party line issues. Republicans here support big spending for job creation if it puts money in the right pockets, their own. Democrats oppose spending on infrastructure when it's simply stupid, like the Balboa Park off ramp. The problem with Nathan Fletcher is deeper that party affiliation. He thinks those puppet strings are prosthetics to help him, because he was born without a spine. Party affiliation means nothing if you stand for something, all by yourself.— September 6, 2013 3:36 p.m.
Combined convention center/stadium? Or neither?
So far in the three card monte' game of stadium proposals, the Spanos family always ends up with title to the current Stadium's land at low ball prices. The MIssion Valley property is a better location for a stadium. THAT'S WHY WE MOVED OUR STADIUM LOCATION IN THE SIXTIES FROM DOWNTOWN TO MISSION VALLEY. The sale of the Stadium land is included in every proposal, but they don't mention the plume of toxic chemicals that would have to be cleaned up under the Mission Valley site. The new stadium would be completed before work begins on that clean up, the exact cost is unknown.— September 6, 2013 1:15 p.m.
Aguirre: "Put essentials first and wants second."

Aguirre: "Put essentials first and wants second."
Fix what's broken, like our plumbing, power grid and roads, don't break what isn't broken, like our Stadium and Balboa Park. I would attack the proposed stadium as worse than the one we have. The Balboa Park Tunnel also improves nothing. Big expenditures mean more taxes or less services and maintenance, people shouldn't be asked to pay taxes to support rich men's toys, and our basic needs have been neglected for years..— September 4, 2013 9:56 p.m.
Aguirre: "Put essentials first and wants second."
I'm on his side, like Twister, I'm ready with unrequested advice. "needs' is stronger than "essentials". Try "I'm fighting for better roads, plumbing. and electricity, things we all need, my opponents and the Downtown Interests plan to waste your tax dollars on playthings we can't afford.". Whatever the speech, I wish Michael Aguirre success as he aims the cannons at City Hall.— September 4, 2013 4:44 p.m.
Aguirre wants secure water supply, lower electric rates, infrastructure upgrade
I thought Aguirre should have run for Mayor when he ran for City Attorney. Aguirre's attacking style is perfect for this election. He always ran attacking City Hall, and when he says he will fight tirelessly to clean things up he means it. Bruce Coons deserves credit for his Balboa Park success. I like both these candidates. I'm puzzled by Todd Gloria's decision not to run. He might have seen polling data we haven't. I regarded him as a real threat to split the Democratic vote. The Democratic Sheep Faction, that condemned Filner, might have followed Gloria to slaughter. I don't think they will jump to Fletcher. Fletcher is a loser asking for a redo, with a new party label, the third he has tried. Time was, a politician figured out which life long convictions to fake when before they entered politics. If he wants to call himself a Democrat, he better get religion quick. The middle of the road is for roadkill..— September 4, 2013 1:31 a.m.
Todd Gloria wields the ax, firing most of Filner staff
Many assume that Republicans will vote in larger percentages in off elections, and will give the election to the downtown interests, but this election breaks rules, it's a unique event, and the downtown puppet master's.plans to neglect infrastructure and neighborhoods while pouring money into grandiose foolishness isn't really a Republican idea. La Jolla is La Jolla because of adherence to zoning restrictions, and the Republicans that choose to live there presumably enjoy that zoning. Everyone, rich and poor, needs their streets and plumbing fixed...— September 3, 2013 7:42 p.m.
Todd Gloria wields the ax, firing most of Filner staff
Jack has already blundered, the new building was intended to attract people, not offend them. A City leader might convince Jack to fold his crumby poker hand in return for the goodwill of the neighbors and the whole city. They've spent billions on goodwill nationwide, the little restaurant isn't worth threatening that.. Sing a couple of verses of TIE ME KANGAROO DOWN, and Jack will be ready to deal.— September 3, 2013 3:20 p.m.

If anyone has complaints about the prose on this blog, they can request their money back. Let's thank nearly everyone who contributes to this blog, agree or disagree everyone cares. I find it very entertaining, Everyone should contribute who cares about the City. As for the metaphors Twister complains of, 'lapdog' is tired, but 'chewer of shoes' is inspired. Now the image of a man with a shoe in his mouth will follow me until I find someone to use it on.— September 3, 2013 2:32 p.m.
