Kudos and thanks to everyone who took action to block the toll road extension! Also, now that the Nukes are being decommissioned, I just learned that the NRC allows Sempra 60 years to dismantle the plant, and 300 years to get rid of the radioactive waste pools. Are we willing to bet that a major quake won't hit our area before 2313? A possible solution may lie in Paul Stamets' book "Mycellium Running." Fungi may be the answer to both speeding up the clean up and making it far safer. There is a species of mushroom now growing on the inner walls of the radioactive buildings of the Chernobyl Nuclear plant <http://unitedcats.wordpress.com/2007/05/29/major-…> They absorb 10,000 times the background radiation of Cesium 137. You can catch Stamets speaking on a couple of TedTalks. Any other suggestions, ideas welcome. Especially anyone who knows far more than me about the work of the late Physicist Bruce DePalma in this area. Thanks!— June 23, 2013 3:02 a.m.
