Why Did 91X Fire Mookie?
Why do they all have to go "classic" rock? Shouldn't our rock be classic by now? They should call those stations "ancient" rock!!— October 28, 2010 12:56 p.m.
A Power Greater Than Ourselves
The constant battle of whether a greater power exists wears higher thinkers out. While I find the "let go and let God" route a bit of a cop-out, I am not so arrogant as to believe this infinite universe was created just for us. There is something greater than us. Just allowing for the fact restores a modicum of sanity.— October 28, 2010 12:31 p.m.
Why Did 91X Fire Mookie?
Someone who lives up there told me that KOME went country. We used to have KFAT as well, which was "cool" country. KSJO still plays modern hard rock mixed with classic rock. But I still pine for the old 91X days. I LOVED that music and still do. The first time I heard "Cool Thing" on 91X I ran to Tower and bought Sonic Youth's "Goo" cassette!! Which reminds me - Sony just discontinued the cassette "Walkman". An era has officially ended :)— October 28, 2010 8:27 a.m.
Why Did 91X Fire Mookie?
It was called "Mannequins" although I am not sure if the proper spelling was used. It had a black and white motiff, and was also pretty cool - kind of the antithesis of PB dorkiness, which was rampant at the time. If I remember correctly, because I went to high school in northern Cal as well, KSJO and KOME were the stations we listened to. I remember KOME's tagline was "Don't touch that dial - there's KOME on it!!!". When I moved to San Diego in the late eighties, I discovered alternative music and officially fell in love. I remember my sisters visiting me and being appalled at my love of The Smiths. I quickly converted them.— October 27, 2010 8:15 p.m.
Why Did 91X Fire Mookie?
Perhaps he should talk to Chris Cantore. Anyway, I am happy for Robin, who used to do appearances at Emerald City, a Pacific Beach bar that was popular in the early nineties and where I had a stint as a cocktail waitress while working my day job. It was the coolest place in town, and 91X was pretty cool back then too. I no longer listen to them, but now that RR is back, I just might.— October 27, 2010 6:32 p.m.

The Early Daze, part 16
This is so damn good! I love your blog. It's long and sometimes I miss entries, but I hope you publish this somewhere as one long read. Like a book. Which I will buy.— October 26, 2010 7:34 p.m.

It's still early, RFG...maybe it's time to tell him about the dryer :) Great blog, I've read it like five times. I too have pounded many a square peg and lots of people keep asking me when I am going to throw my hat back in. Never, if I can help it. I keep my distance from the fracas. Anti, how did you get a picture of my cat? Nan's a skinny-minnie!!— October 26, 2010 7:48 a.m.
