True Grit Stands Alone
jhutt, there are thousands of movie reviews archived here on the Reader website. Below is the link. Just type in what movie you are interested in reading about, and presto! http://www.sandiegoreader.com/movie_archives/— December 28, 2010 12:16 p.m.
Puppy Love From La Mesa City Council
"The republican side of me doesn't like to say 'you can't sell this or you can't sell that'" - if it has a heartbeat, it should be a no-brainer. No matter what some (very unfortunate) people think - that animals have no feelings - EVERYTHING has the capacity to suffer.— December 26, 2010 4:15 p.m.
Itty-Bitty Committee
My friends are not "certain women". They have college degrees, did not get married until they were in their early thirties, and the one whose husband blamed her for him being gay had been with her husband for ten years before they got married, and did not have children for five more years. None of them hates their kids. Quite the opposite. Marriages can and do go sour and people change. Every one of my divorced friends say the best thing that came out of their marriage was their children.— December 24, 2010 1:48 p.m.
Gin's Lead Indicators Inch Forward in November
When the sovereign debt of the U.S. Government gets downgraded by Moody's (which they have already hinted they are going to do in two years) from AAA to AA, gold will most likely go up much higher. It's not how high gold will go, it's how low the dollar will go. Just saying.— December 23, 2010 5:25 p.m.
A Christmas Story
Sniffle. I miss Ollie.— December 22, 2010 1:37 p.m.
Christmas Ain't What It Used to Be
I am one as well. I find the holiday season something to be endured.— December 22, 2010 10:34 a.m.
Sitting In Front Of My Crock Pot...
Robbie, did you know that sauerkraut is really good for you? I was just reading about fermented foods and it appears they keep our guts healthy. Glad things are going well.— December 22, 2010 9:16 a.m.
Black Swan Gets a Black Spot
Black Swan was a gorgeous film. I highly recommend it. Darkly stylistic, psycho-thriller adult themes, FANTASTICALLY ACTED.— December 20, 2010 4:16 p.m.
How Do You Know, a Plasma-Screen Diversion
And what about Barney nabbing Betty?!?!— December 18, 2010 8:55 a.m.
Tale of Two Tenors
Awww, Garrett, you're such a good addition to this publication, I can't stay mad at you. You know, I was a classical music neophyte until I got married. I had to create my music list and because I married a Jewish man Wagner was out of the question (not to mention I would never consider Mendelssohn's "Wedding March", as march is not something I ever associated with going into my marriage), and I have to say it opened up a whole new world to me. Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" during the seating , Pachelbel's "Canon" in D minor for me, and Bach's "Joy of Man's Desiring" for the recessional. Going back this morning and listening to these well-known but very special-to-me classics brought tears to my eyes. This is what this music is meant for, and preserving it and appreciating it is important. Fight the good fight.— December 18, 2010 7:46 a.m.
