Found a Peanut
Pete, for as long as I have been posting here, I have never, ever petitioned for a comment to be removed. My response to your comment was factual and respectful. Your comment did not bother me in the slightest, because I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions, ESPECIALLY if they are contrary to mine. But I do typically blog about things that are important to me and maybe I am deluded but I like to think I am a fairly decent human being. Refried, WTF? Seriously? You've been using that handle for ages. If anyone was going to bother with you, wouldn't they have done it already?— March 5, 2010 2:21 p.m.
Found a Peanut
There was nothing gray about it, shizzy. That kitten would have been dead by July 5th. Ever been on the beach in OB on the 4th? I did not deem the person unfit. He deemed himself, admittedly by my prodding him about his ability to care for a 4 week old kitten on the 4th of July. And yes, our paths did cross, eye contact was made and an unspoken understanding of what went down acknowledged. I saw him for about three months after that, then he was gone. Do you honestly believe that she would have been better off with him? When I finally got her, she was dehydrated, sunburned and malnourished. I took her to my vet right away, and they discovered a heart murmur, which has since cleared up. Animals kept as pets need basic medical attention. Think it through. Did he have the means to have her spayed? Or even to get her shots? That kitten was a novelty for him. For me it meant saving a life. You can criticize me all you want. I would do it again in a heartbeat.— March 5, 2010 10:46 a.m.

And thanks, Anti, CF and Mindy. Glad you liked it.— March 5, 2010 8:30 a.m.

I didn't ignore him, Pete. Because the story was about a kitten, I did not get into my relationship with the local homeless. When I would take my walks, I would always bring some water or food with me to give to him, and we talked about where he was from, etc. I feel for these people, and I donate my time at St. Vincent De Paul. But I cannot rescue them. Cats, on the other hand, I can. All three of my cats are from off the streets.— March 5, 2010 6:13 a.m.
A Shelter Manager Writes
God, I know what you mean. I walk down the halls and on one wall is the euthanasia post. I hate walking down that particular hall. They are all pitbulls. I'm not sure what shelter you work for, but the San Diego Humane Society has maintained an almost perfect record for ALL adoptable animals being saved. But like you said, adoptable animals are those that show no signs of aggression, are not sick, etc. Sometimes just being relinquished to a shelter sentences them to death because their behavior changes. People who need a pure-bred animal are stupid. They cannot grasp pet companionship. To them it is ownership. When the animal disappoints them, they get rid of it, only to try a new breed. The problem is not the animal, but the ego of the idiot thinking his new Boxer is going to be the equivalent of a single malt scotch, and bring him nothing but satisfaction, without him having to contribute a single thing.— March 4, 2010 8:11 p.m.

Down on his luck?? At least you can fly! Yes, I figured that would tug at your heartstrings, PP.— March 4, 2010 3:05 p.m.

Funny. I just wrote a story yesterday about how I helped both. A homeless bum down on his luck at the beach and a kitten. I'll post it later so you can see how f***ed in the head I am.— March 4, 2010 1:58 p.m.

No, Pete, the difference between you and me is I stand up for things, while you in turn stand against them.— March 4, 2010 7:56 a.m.
Weeping for Coco
Oy, anti - we have a communication breakdown. Cuddle sometimes loses the sense of humor necessary to carry the blogs when they sometimes break down into levity. Cuddle, just lighten up a tad. I have to admit, earlier I choked back a chuckle at the the blog about the two of you wrestling to Pete's twisted fantasy. It may have been offensive, but it was funny!— March 3, 2010 8 p.m.

Pete, that is called selective breeding and you are dangerously close to some very bad theories. Desperate, hungry people are poor and sometimes ignorant (and I hate to use that word because I do not practice Catholicism at all in my adult life and cannot speak for those that do, the fear of repercussion no longer a driving force in my deeds). All feral animals are equal. You want to sterilize poor people because they might rob you and are possibly misguided regarding religion? Is that your point?— March 3, 2010 6:27 p.m.
