L.A. NFL stadium rivals sink big cash into Brown bid
No kidding. It would be just as realistic if the U-T showed a flock of winged unicorns flying out of their fantasy stadium.— December 9, 2013 1:54 p.m.
Liberal "dark money" group spends big for Scott Peters
Good for the LCV. Somebody has to fight fire with fire, because we all know the Papa Doug/Lynch mob will spend seven figures on DeMaio's campaign against Peters next year.— December 5, 2013 6:07 p.m.
Gah! Ugh.
The cards that you posted on Facebook essentially say, "You're a fool for having children because they steal your money and freedom during the prime of your life." And when you post that on Facebook, you're inviting responses. You attacked other people's choices to have children (even though you thinly disguised it as a joke), and they responded by defending their own choices. That's nothing to get upset about.— December 4, 2013 11:04 a.m.
Faulconer bails, mayoral debate canceled
Not only is "shaky" an understatement re the finances, but "misinform" is an understatement re what the U-T prints.— November 12, 2013 8:41 p.m.
Braves to leave Turner Field after only 16 years
Chargers want a stadium downtown because they think that's their best hope of getting taxpayer money to pay for their new stadium. The Chargers have hopscotched from site to site in SD County looking for someone to absorb the cost of a new football stadium. Agreed that the Q is the best location. They should build a new football stadium next to the old one and then use the site of the old one for parking after demolition, as Denver did.— November 11, 2013 9:12 p.m.
U-T circulation drops from spring
"How do the remaining two out of three get informed? I'm thinking I don't want to know the answer to that." -- I think you're right, we don't want to know. Probably a few seek out the news through online news sources (like we are doing now), probably a lot learn only what they see when they check Facebook.— November 1, 2013 4:26 p.m.
Signage proposal denied for Westfield's UTC
You're right. The code permits signage up to 350 square feet in area. Westfield wants to install a 672 square-foot sign "along the Genesee Avenue Frontage of the Westfield UTC Shopping Center located at the Southeast corner of Genesee Avenue and La Jolla Village Drive", according to the City approval given to UTC, dated November 28, 2012.— November 1, 2013 4:22 p.m.
Manchester buys more San Diego papers
How much value is there in these free local weeklies? Am I missing something? Aren't those just the annoying small papers wrapped in plastic that get dumped in your driveway whether you want them or not, on their way to your recycling bin?— November 1, 2013 4:16 p.m.
Walmart and Sempra bankroll anti-Fletcher hit piece
With Fletcher, how much of it is his beliefs changing, and how much of it is him deciding that the GOP was incompatible with his beliefs? I'd say it's more of the latter.— October 30, 2013 11:25 p.m.
California GOP money pours into Faulconer campaign
The GOP rounded up the usual suspects and got them to ante up to try to stop Alvarez and Fletcher. *Citizens United* infects the San Diego mayor's race.— October 30, 2013 2:15 p.m.
