More clients drop San Diego's Sacramento lobbyist
Proving yet again that the real Mayor, Bob Filner, was completely right. And that the Inglorious Toad was completely wrong and out of line at our expense.— March 8, 2014 5:22 a.m.
DeMaio to run ad holding hands with boyfriend
Interesting how schizophrenic the Republican Party is with regard to gay candidates. If it's one of their own, they can't figure out whether to ignore it, play it down, or flaunt it. Whereas when Clay Aiken jumped into the Congressional race last week as a Democratic candidate, one of the first things the spokesperson for Ellmers, who is the Republican incumbent, said was that Aiken's "political views more closely resemble those of San Francisco than Sanford." Nasty little slam. And it will presumably only get worse.— February 16, 2014 10:03 p.m.
DeMaio to run ad holding hands with boyfriend
Look for an ad from a Peters PAC showing a photo of a bathroom stall and a jar of Mayo sitting in the middle of the restroom.— February 16, 2014 7:24 p.m.
Balboa Golf Course clubhouse to expand?
So basically golfers get a nicer facility and the public gets less safety. That sounds fair.— February 16, 2014 3:20 p.m.
Filner accuser McCormack Jackson to get $250K
McCormack Jackson, who initially wanted $1.5 million, said that Filner wanted to see her naked, said that she should work without panties, said he could not wait to consummate their relationship, and he put her in "headlocks." She *alleged* that he said these things.— February 10, 2014 6:51 p.m.
SD mayoral vote the last stand for state Republicans?
This is a mistake people make all the time; it isn't about the money for the Tea Baggers and their ilk. For them it's some distorted world view that mixes their brand of patriotism, Christian values, and bigotry. It's true that as many Republicans have come to see that progressive values work in their own self-interest, meaning money in their wallet, they abandon those deeply held beliefs, lol, and switch sides. But the true haters are beyond reason; you can talk to them about wealth and income disparity till the cows come home and all they will do is screech You dumbass libtards, Obama is a treasonous Kenyan who should be shot for destroying the Constitution, Benghazi, IRS, executive orders, imperial presidency, la la la. Demented parrots, lol.— February 10, 2014 1:18 p.m.
Democrat Aguirre endorses Republican Faulconer
Honest Government, you touched right on the very nerve of the matter, for me: his record so far does bode ill on a number of levels. It's very worrisome. All we can do is hope that this creepy feeling down my spine goes away.— February 10, 2014 11:16 a.m.
Democrat Aguirre endorses Republican Faulconer
I can't speak for anyone else. But I can honestly say I personally was never wary or skeptical when Bob Filner was elected. I slept very good at night because I didn't have to worry he would do the wrong thing for the wrong reasons. Even knowing what I know now about his Pepe LePew issues, I still think he was a damn fine mayor, the best this godforsaken city has ever had, or at least in a very very long time.— February 10, 2014 11:07 a.m.
Democrat Aguirre endorses Republican Faulconer
I think that's exactly what's going to happen. I think the U-T's got stuff on David, and they're waiting to either get him to play along or sling it and cripple him, or bring him down. This is the new Republican game plan; if you can't win legitimately, then hamstring by manufactured scandal.— February 10, 2014 11 a.m.
Democrat Aguirre endorses Republican Faulconer
And I'm saying, if she really believed that, she would have run again. I'm not discounting her position, that if her supporters knew how to spell her name, she may have had the votes to win, and I wrote a letter to the U-T which they accepted saying that Mayor Murphy had to admit and consider that he had only won on a technicality. Still, the rule of law is what it is, and the election wasn't stolen. But again, she ran in an election where she knew her ideas wouldn't be tested in the same way as in a regular election cycle (same strategy as David), and she chose not to run again. That tells you pretty much all you need to know.— February 10, 2014 10:56 a.m.
