No known witnesses yet in Jackson lawsuit, says Filner's lawyer
Sorry, I don't.— August 1, 2013 1:35 p.m.
No known witnesses yet in Jackson lawsuit, says Filner's lawyer
This assumes the allegations are true. I'm not being naive here. I'm saying eight women are telling basically the same story, kisses, hugs, and crude jokes, but only one dares to file a lawsuit, and she hires a big time celebrity lawyer? Doesn't that sound pretty weak, and strongly coincidental, to you?— August 1, 2013 1:31 p.m.
Who is the "land use expert" Michael J. Pallamary behind the Filner recall campaign?
Wow. All the writer did was post **known facts** about the leader of the Recall Filner effort, and you'd think they were calling him the antiChrist. Granted, there's some speculation about Pallamary's motives thrown in, which seem to square with his background and interests, but no great suspension of disbelief required. Those of you who wish to believe he is volunteering to lead this massive undertaking out of the goodness of his heart, feel free to do so. I'd be more inclined to follow the money.— July 31, 2013 12:58 p.m.
Council to Consider Kessler Settlement
"Emptying the people's treasury on what may or may not be a dubious claim has become a new favorite pastime." I look forward to you letting us know that you persuaded Gloria Allred to drop the harassment lawsuit.— July 30, 2013 3:49 p.m.
Filner did all the right things the wrong way
Yes. Money-saving isn't always money-saving. Money-saving also isn't always the goal. It's no secret the mayor is friendly to labor. If he prefers to give city business to people who pay a living wage and benefits, all to the good, I say. Not saying that's the case here, just giving an example.— July 29, 2013 10:05 p.m.
Filner did all the right things the wrong way
Well that's the question here, isn't it? I mean, I don't see how he doesn't win the case.— July 29, 2013 9:59 p.m.
Filner did all the right things the wrong way
He's a fighter. He's mentally tough, and incredibly focused and purposeful. That's what makes him a great mayor. Do those qualities make him a nice boss? I haven't worked for him, so I wouldn't know.— July 29, 2013 9:51 p.m.
Dinosaur rampages through downtown San Diego, killing dozens
Oh. Another Mencken scribble. Yawn. Zzzzzzzzz ........— July 29, 2013 7:59 p.m.
Filner did all the right things the wrong way
"There are two recalls out there right now. One is probably a bogus effort. So if one just happens to fail (and it will) and file first, well, it’s just tough luck. Even if both were serious, the probability of one going over the 102,000 signature mark is very slim."— July 29, 2013 4:16 p.m.
Filner did all the right things the wrong way
rdotinga July 28, 2013 @ 8:44 p.m. "There's more than allegations of "injudicious hugs and comments." You need to keep up." Oh really? Grabbing strange women's tits on the street? Shoving cigars up interns' vajayjays? Schtupping the nanny and getting her pregnant? Sending pics of his package to sexting partners? Getting his freak on with high-priced prostitutes? Even if all the allegations are true, amounting to a few crude jokes and inappropriate passes, I'd say the mayor has a lot of catching up to do. "And your philosophy that men can do virtually whatever they want to women until they're told no is positively prehistoric. Talk about a Mad Man. You make Don Draper look like Mr. Rogers." Well first of all I'd argue that it is the women who by their own conduct sent the signal that men could do whatever they wanted by not coming forward. This is what I argued earlier in the thread. To suggest that women, smart, well educated, knowledgeable, successful women, are so afraid to take a stand, to refuse an advance, to put a masher in their place, to file a claim, to do anything except either quit or gossip among themselves, is to set women back years. The worst part is that allowing the alleged harasser to get away with what they allegedly did without consequences not only empowered the harasser but allowed them to continue that conduct with other women. In other words these women shirked their duty to themselves as being worthy of respect, to other women, and as a final consequence we as a city are now in the position we are in because they did not come forward at the first incident of harassment. You know, everything about this perpetuates stereotypes about women. You really can't have it both ways.— July 29, 2013 4:07 p.m.
