Former SDPD detective wanted Chief Lansdowne out
There was a good analysis in SDFP. It appears that Encinas wanted someone in the Police Chief's chair that would be friendlier to the interests of his clients in the entertainment biz. Lansdowne had apparently been turning down liquor license applications on the basis of not having enough cops to handle the extra work. So they were both working an angle, one to get more money for the clients he lobbied for, the other to get more cops and more pay for his cops. So it appears Marco Polo Cortes, who throughout his career was linked to the Inzunzas, is the only one sitting in a cell, chances are he will cooperate; his pals in the scheme may or may not end up in prison, but it is certain none of the politicians they bought and paid for will get popped. Who gets hurt by this, really? Gloria, Vargas, et al, send back checks, lol. All the influence was bought, all the policies and decisions made, the elections come and gone (except for the upcoming mayoral race). Except for the possible effect it will have on David, I see little outcome on the political scene. This is all fun and interesting, but nothing changes.— January 24, 2014 11:18 a.m.
Man suffers fall on Chula Vista trolley platform
I'm surprised the editors didn't catch the error. Should have read: Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, January 17, paramedics and firefighters responded to a report of a man who had fallen unconscious due to a head injury after a fall. Or words to that effect. Succumbed means dead. When someone succumbs to their wounds, that means they died.— January 19, 2014 7:53 a.m.
More Walmart cash arrives for GOP's mayoral campaign
Well what's the difference, really? David's supported the building of any number of Wal-Marts in his district.— November 29, 2013 2:13 p.m.
City faces lawsuit over condos' defective pipes
Gotta love a city attorney who loses winnable cases, fails to protect the city, and spends all his time plotting to overthrow a duly elected Mayor, among other things.— November 10, 2013 9:19 a.m.
UCSD conceals Fletcher's reason for graduating five years late
All very sordid. And one can assume this is not the only instance of this sort of thing at the UC system. This whole thing makes their position re academic review laughable.— October 29, 2013 7:36 p.m.
San Diego mayoral debate abruptly canceled...due to pension truth?
Aguirre can't and won't win, and we should all be grateful. The man was insane as City attorney, just imagine him as mayor. Then just imagine him as mayor with Goldpelt as City Attorney. The mind boggles. No more drama, please!— October 24, 2013 4:24 p.m.
City attorney Goldsmith boasted how he worked on Filner ouster for 8 months
Has bwat actually ever said where he got his journalism degree from? I'd like to write that school and ask them to admit their mistake.— October 19, 2013 8:48 p.m.
City attorney Goldsmith boasted how he worked on Filner ouster for 8 months
Perhaps we'd have to identify professional independent reporters and photographers with high IQs first. This would of course leave you out.— October 19, 2013 8:45 p.m.
City attorney Goldsmith boasted how he worked on Filner ouster for 8 months
Agree with you completely, SAVEBP.— October 19, 2013 8:40 p.m.
City attorney Goldsmith boasted how he worked on Filner ouster for 8 months
Speaking of paying psychologists, who authorized him to hire one, and who paid for the services?— October 19, 2013 7:57 a.m.
