Justice for Jacob protest draws cops
That wasn't the case here. There are different versions of what happened, the official police version as presented in the subtitle and fourth graf of this story, which is discounted by the family. Then there's the police source story, and the family story. The police sources version seems to be that the day this happened, police showed up at a shooting with dead and wounded in the street and dead and wounded in a house, so obviously there's a chaotic scene with multiple victims and at the end of it, they took the one who had been found with a body inside the house into custody. But after investigating, detectives found that "there were many shooters" and supposedly what happened was the person who shot Jacob was himself shot and killed. So Jacob's murderer was also murdered, according to this version. The family seems to think that the police let the killer go and aren't interested in pursuing it because the police think it's a gangland killing. You can kind of see why they believe that given what happened that day, and then the story changing so dramatically. Where the truth lies is anyone's guess.— October 17, 2017 8:24 a.m.
Mission Beach's last big chunk
"Mission Beach was created on a sandbar purchased by Spreckels. He designed a neighborhood squeezed between the ocean and Mission Bay on 30-foot by 80-foot lots, with larger buildings on the corners. Its elementary school was built on a cluster of those lots and operated until 1987, when the San Diego Unified School District closed it. It was sold for $18.5 million in 2013, *over the objections of then-mayor **Bob Filner,** who wanted it to remain public land."* Miss Bob yet?— October 15, 2017 9:21 a.m.

Doctor allegedly fell down twice during surgery
Okay, I know you're trying to be legally careful, Don, but, "the patient allegedly died"? I think death is pretty much an either/or deal. Did s/he or didn't s/he pass away?— October 1, 2017 12:11 p.m.

Taxpayers association thumbs down Chargers proposal
What a difference from the Garrick/UT article. Whereas they stop at the conveniently good for them rosy outcomes, you actually and honestly extend the questions and answers out to their logical and realistic conclusions. Funny how the Chargers always seem to miss these little million dollar details. Oops. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/aug…— August 22, 2016 8:35 p.m.
