Douglass Jennings, disbarred tax lawyer, gets 34 months
The following was posted on YELP: “An update: the firm has changed its name to La Jolla Financial Group. They operate out of the same offices and use the same phone number and staff. This past September, Doug Jennings wrote to his clients and confirmed, "My intent to continue to work as a consultant to the new firm on a continuing basis." Mr. Jennings went on to write, " I truly apologize for my unprofessional acts and ask for your forgiveness." Mr. Jennings has pled guilty to three felonies for fraud and was disbarred for stealing client's money. He filed for bankruptcy and was on California's Top 500 Delinquent Tax Payers list owing over $873,000, and has misinformed the public that he is a CPA. If that wasn't bad enough, his own law corporation filed a lawsuit against himself in 2015. These are all facts that can be easily verified by anyone. Professional service providers are all about trust and potential clients should be warned that Mr. Jennings has proven time and time again he cannot be trusted by the public.”— April 6, 2018 4:32 p.m.
High stakes for Lorena and Nathan
Why doesn’t this do nothing, flip flopping excuse of a political hack, just go away. He doesn’t stand for anything, changes affiliations like the wind changes direction. Sucks up to a billionaire and his family and gets a do nothing job. Hey Nathan why not be a regular guy for a while, do honest documented work, and earn a living instead of exploiting everyone else. If the voters in District Four elect this Bozo, they deserve what, if any meaningful representation they’ll get.— March 23, 2018 12:46 p.m.
Does Nati's new owner have his eye on nearby parcels?
Really..... your “dead grandmother”. That’s a standard? I have no doubt when your grandmother was with us she made wonderful chips, and probably salsa too. It was in the past when people took pride in doing things, especially making hearty food to feed family member’s souls. Sadly, for the most part, that time is gone. Mid-century box architecture is not remarkable, in fact most of is really unremarkable. This example should be gone too.— March 17, 2018 6:32 p.m.

Yep, slap a couple of boxes together with 2n12 pitch to the roof line and you’ve got a mid century hovel. Historic! they claim. Then sell Americanized Mexican food. Want decent Mexican food go to El Indio..been there since 1940.— March 16, 2018 11:46 p.m.

Mexican restaurants in San Diego are numerous and scattered throughout the city. Mediocre ones, like Nati’s, exist too. Seems to me there are much better uses for this property and way better Mexican restaurants too. Progress marches on folks.— March 16, 2018 8:58 a.m.
Can't blame North Chapel plan on Corky
Religion, politics and McMillin’s boondoggle of the former NTC. All three topics elicit strong emotional responses.— March 11, 2018 10:04 a.m.

Mayor raises big money for One San Diego
Look...it’s a mini Clinton Foundation! No *real* good can come from it. It’s *all* about the money and influence pedaling.— March 7, 2018 5:06 p.m.
Mexican stole American's identity 37 years ago
Maybe so, but with nearly a billion page views monthly, that’s a lot of eyeballs potentially seeing this story.— March 5, 2018 5:12 p.m.

Maybe it’s time for the Government to require an annual face-to-face renewal process for these benefit programs. If you want benefits come in for an annual “check-up”. I don’t see an issue with compliance. All you’d need is benefits linked. If you failed to show for your appointment the checks would stop. Oh I know some will scream government intrusion, others will say it too much of burden, but fraud and abuse is only getting worse as more and more “baby boomers” reach their benefit years.— March 4, 2018 8:27 a.m.
