Nati's history is history
Happy. Their food was mediocre at best. Sorry for the folks who were laid off.— July 10, 2018 9:37 a.m.
Edison, SDG&E, lies, and double dealing
Ah, sort like the three-legged stool test. If one leg fails, the stool will be difficult, if not impossible to balance properly. If we say the legs of the stool are: The CPUC, Customers and Company&Shareholders, then one leg, The CPUC, has sustained substantial damage with the stool tilting precariously toward the owner/shareholder needs. Seems we are in need of thoughtful repair to prevent a catastrophe.— July 4, 2018 9:11 a.m.
Edison, SDG&E, lies, and double dealing
It’s my opinion, intellect, willpower, faith and support can overpower any addiction ***IF*** the person wants to change. With support being critically important. But it’s just an opinion. There is so little understood comparatively about the brain, tumors and personality disorders. While some suggest there can be a relationship, it’s difficult, if not impossible to know with certainty. I am surprised that there were not any stories of interventions by her identical twin sister and physician husband. Truly a sad situation.— July 4, 2018 8:49 a.m.
Edison, SDG&E, lies, and double dealing
Well then something happened to her after his demise. She admitted to embezzling over two million dollars from his charity foundation trust to feed her gambling problems. If that’s your example of a good business person, you’ll need to rethink it. It’s also my understanding as of 2017 she hasn’t paid anything toward that debt, yet the U.S. Attorney still hasn’t proceeded with prosecution. Must be nice to be connected similar to Peevey who should be prosecuted too. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/watchdog…— July 3, 2018 7:35 p.m.
Edison, SDG&E, lies, and double dealing
While Maureen O’Connor was politically adept, she wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed when it came to business dealings. Do you think she was being coached on the SCE and SDG&E merger by her husband, Robert O. Petersen, founder of Ocar’s and Jack-in-the-Box restaurants?— July 3, 2018 11:45 a.m.
Edison, SDG&E, lies, and double dealing
Your history with Peevey is more extensive than I understood and the extent of his corruption is far deeper too. How could ***ANY*** Governor be associated with or appoint this person to any commission?— July 3, 2018 11:36 a.m.
Roque De La Fuente running for U.S. Senate
Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente and Michael Schaefer birds of a feather and perennial losing candidates. Although, through some quirk in nature Schaefer somehow got elected to the San Diego City Council in 1965 and “served” one term. But then again wasn’t it Roque De La Fuente who won a substantial settlement in litigation against the City for its actions against his property in a Otay Mesa/San Ysidro Business Park? If they are both “Loons” (birds of a feather) at least De La Fuente’s nest is well feathered. Schaefer, whose reputation as a not-so-nice landlord, which has been covered in the ***San Diego Reader***, (https://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/1999/sep/16/u…) not so much.— June 28, 2018 8:28 p.m.
Should San Diego's trash collecting stay free?
Folks in single family homes who live on private streets where city vehicles are not indemnity, are not serviced. In addition, many of these streets are not designed, nor built, to city standards. Some, for example, are too narrow.— June 27, 2018 7:07 p.m.
Should San Diego's trash collecting stay free?
The premise of the story’s title is not true, or certainly misleading. Trash collection in the City of San Diego is not “free”. Fees covering some of the costs are included in the assessments contained with property taxes. And while the 1919 Ordinance does covers single family homes on public right-of-ways, many properties, commercial, multi-family and many others pay for collection services. Why do you think no one on the City Council touched this issue? Finally, it’s unrealistic to assume these collection can have an infinite lifespan. I’m old enough to remember having metal cans and they too had to be replaced from time to time. One of my two black 96gallon cans is the original one dropped off by the City years ago. It has a crack but still functions. It will probably need replacing within a year or so. So I’ll just go up to Environmental Services and buy a new one when the time come.— June 26, 2018 1:44 p.m.
County neurosurgeon Lokesh Tantuwaya
It sad to see how many succumb to greed to chase the uber lifestyle only to end up in a 10x10 room at the GRAY-BAR hotel. Too bad having the gifts and talent of being neurosurgeon wasn’t enough. Truly a waste. Make me wonder just how many surgeries were necessary? How many lives were risked over greed? We might never know with certainty but there is no doubt we will certainly question them all.— June 25, 2018 3:13 p.m.
