A tree survives in Bay Park
A google “street view” photo of the tree in question prior to its near demise, by whomever owns or would be responsible for it. Let’s not forget public liability issues. The City recently paid out more than a few million dollars when a queen palm fell injuring a citizen.— September 5, 2018 4:02 p.m.

That is a ridiculous reason for the HQ front counter person not to take the report. Even if the field officer saw the video chances are he or she could not get a copy then. That’s why we have detectives and case follow up. Detectives could get a warrant to seize the evidence if the business did not cooperate.— September 1, 2018 7:03 a.m.
Chargers hater back
They will sell seats for the opposing team and to those who can write off the cost as a business expense. It would be interesting to see NFL attendance numbers if the ability to write off the cost was denied by the IRS.— September 1, 2018 6:55 a.m.
Chargers hater back
As long as The Chargers paid the early exit penalty when they left San Diego I say, Let it go folks, Spanos is L.A.’s problem now. The sad part, even with the penalty payment, San Diego still owes millions in bond payments for the ‘97 stadium expansion Spanos demanded. However, the taxpayers really did dodge a bullet by rejecting a new stadium. While the payments for the 97 expansion bonds hurt, building a whole new stadium for the lame-ass Chargers’ owner was ridiculous.— August 31, 2018 5:39 p.m.

Sadly the officers made more of an effort to wash out this report than just taking it. ALL THE MORE REASON TO FILE A COMPLAINT!— August 31, 2018 12:29 p.m.

Sadly the officers made more of an effort to wash this out then it would have been to take the report. YOU REALLY NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT!— August 31, 2018 12:27 p.m.

You have MULTIPLE valid complaints here. While “traffic” officers are focused on traffic related enforcement, the still are police officers and have a duty to take reports just like patrol officers. Sure they’d rather not, but they are still required to do so. Most will rationalize the lower priority of your report, nevertheless, they shouldn’t “wash out” reports. You not only have a crime against a person, but you have suspect information AND there is potential video evidence. PLEASE REPORT This AND FILE a COMPLAINT.— August 31, 2018 12:24 p.m.

If I were you I immediately file a complaint with the police department for poor service. First: being spat upon is a crime, period. It is a battery and crime against a person. It is a misdemeanor and yes the officer cannot, by law, make an arrest unless the misdemeanor occurs in his or her presence. But that’s why we have citizen’s arrest. And, no the suspect most likely would not have gone to jail. They would have been issued a misdemeanor citation with their promise to appear in court at a later date. But it is still a crime and NEEDS TO BE REPORTED. Second: the officer at the front counter at 14th & Broadway, PDHQ, should have taken the report. All he or she needed to do is send the report the automated crime reporting system to the proper command, in this case central division. This is an example of repeated may-tagging, washing out a legitimate crime report by those who a being too lazy to take the report. While the chances of this case getting to court are very slim all of the officers you contacted should have taken the report. In the City of San Diego all misdemeanors are prosecuted by the City Attoney’s office, not the District Attorney. If the suspect is identified later, a notify warrant can be issued. And you will be required to testify in court of the case would be dismissed. All officers who refused to take this report should now be reprimanded for failing to properly take the report. I urge you to follow through, ,file a crime report, demand to see a supervisor, and file a complaint!— August 31, 2018 9:11 a.m.

De la Fuente captured 10% of the vote in the republican US senator primary race. YIKES! Thank goodness his opponent gathered almost 90% of the vote.— August 28, 2018 5:26 p.m.
