Sweetwater runs afoul of state Public Records Act
I like the business card idea. Maybe they could say "For more information call Ed Brand" and his phone number. I would also like to see some of the board members get some attention. I think they're getting off scot free. It's easy to ruin someone's day and then walk away if you don't have to face them in your neighborhood, local shops or church. Let's turn up the heat and get them all out of their comfort zone.— June 27, 2013 11 p.m.
Sweetwater runs afoul of state Public Records Act
Thank you for the reminder Woodchuck: 6 PM meeting today at the South Chula Vista Library on Orange between 3rd and 4th. Park in the back, corner of 4th and Orange, there's an entrance there.— June 26, 2013 10:09 a.m.
Sweetwater runs afoul of state Public Records Act
I'm new on the block but it seems that the DA should expand its investigation. Anyone out there keeping a list of all these PRA obstructions, Brown Act violations, etc?— June 25, 2013 10:36 a.m.
Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
3 local government representatives were at Monday’s board meeting. How often does that happen? Local politicians “seem to care” and are keeping a close watch. We need to make sure they continue to care. Hang in there, it aint over til it’s over. Add me to the recent arrivals to the circus.— June 20, 2013 10:05 a.m.
Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
I went to a bakery in National City and what did I see in the window? - a big sign asking people to attend the board meeting tomorrow - Monday. It's great to see how people from all over the district are taking notice of the transgressions that we're so tired of.— June 16, 2013 1:22 p.m.
Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
I can't believe timtim can't even defend himself. Looks like he didn't even read the link he sent because it's mostly negative. I know you already mentioned it, Eastlaker, but it bears repeating. Read for yourself: *For as much kudos to McCann as I would like to give, I must be fair. Although McCann is in his first-term and has been president of the Sweetwater school district for just 4 months, some of these charges have even occurred under his watch. If the U-T had not uncovered this story, who would have brought it to light? And would this still be going on? ... In regards to the outrage against Jesus Gandara, I offer a plea to John McCann. I know he’s the new guy on the board and, as president, he’s working to balance the budget without having to layoff teachers. Mr. McCann, forget giving pink slips to teachers, and hand one to Jesus Gandara instead.*— June 12, 2013 7:19 p.m.
Local Republican endorsement slate rolled out
I have just two words for the Republicans who are going to save San Diego from the Democrats: Duke Cunningham.— June 12, 2013 12:01 p.m.
Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
McCann, I mean timtim, who sounds like the uneducated one here? "30K that could've went to kids" You should be serving the community instead of wasting your time trying to defend yourself and your godfather Brand. This is so pathetic...— June 10, 2013 10:10 p.m.
Sweetwater scandal spotlight: trustee Jim Cartmill
Julian here, they say I'm responsible for sparking the Tunisian Arab Spring. How about a Sweetwater Summer? Just letting you know I'm looking for leaks - and not the ones coming from the roofs of the schools in the district. But seriously, I've been talking to staff, teachers, the local media and CV government officials. People at every level are mobilizing, organizing and getting informed. Everyone is outraged. Change is coming. Politicians are paying attention. One official was overheard saying: They come here and feed me a line of bull. Another has been reading the grand jury transcripts. A third is said to be "pissed" by what's happening down here. Someone even Tweeted about the 7:45 board meeting. We're in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, but the "innocent until proven guilty" can still turn things around for the district. A judge might look favorably on that.— June 9, 2013 12:02 p.m.
