Non-Partisan Group Offers Host of Democratic Endorsements
Maybe Run Women Run would be surprised and ashamed that Marti Emerald has endorsed Juan Vargas, instead of Denise Ducheny. As everyone is saying lately, that makes me want to throw up. Well, so does Marti, most of the time. Marti endorsing Vargas is sickening, but not because of the female thing...rather because Vargas is as dishonest as the day is long. He is bought, sold, and delivered to the insurance lobby. And boy do those lobbyists love them some Vargas. The East County Magazine reported Feb 16 that"Insurers reportedly spent $1.46 million to elect Vargas to the Legislature. His Congressional campaign has taken another $140,000 in insurance and pharmaceutical contributions..." That was enough for Vargas to "twice [duck] a vote on SB 810, a landmark healthcare reform bill opposed by the insurance industry." "SB 810, which failed by just two votes, would have cut insurance industry administrative costs from around 30% down to 5% and used the proceeds to provide health and dental care coverage for every man, woman and child in California." Watch Occupy activists give Vargas the Spineless Rubber Chicken Award, while Vargas, already in chubby territory, continues to stuff his face: http://youtu.be/uZkZwdfQKh0— March 9, 2012 3:27 p.m.
Spanos Clan to Host Romney Fundraiser at Stockton Estate
In what way?— March 6, 2012 6:24 p.m.
Spanos Clan to Host Romney Fundraiser at Stockton Estate
Only $1000? That's chump change to this crew. And sort of insulting: Mitt is valued at only twice Perry? That's like finding a Tiffany brooch for only twice the cost of a cheap version at Target.— March 6, 2012 1:24 p.m.
Newsom Attacks Critic of Project Backed by Wealthy Donor
I don't see any "cc" on this letter. How did a personal letter from the Lt Gov to the State Historic Preservation Officer get into the hands of Sanders and his twittering PR gal? I'm a loyal Democrat, but not blindly loyal. Newsom will never get any support from me. No votes. No money. We have enough so-called registered Dems in San Diego that look, act, walk, and talk like Republican or Libertarian flunkies. Stay in your own turf, Newwwwwwsommmm. Hmmm. "Newsom" is taking on the resonance of Seinfeld's "Newwwwwmannnnn."— March 3, 2012 6:18 p.m.
Newsom Attacks Critic of Project Backed by Wealthy Donor
"a link to it was tweeted late this afternoon by a representative of the press office of the mayor" That would be Rachel Laing, deputy press secretary to Sanders, who is paid by the taxpayers of this city supposedly to do SOMETHING of use, but who instead spends a large part of her workday tweeting useless personal comments to her friends. Glad she was of some use in exposing yet another person in Jacobs' pocket. Stick to your guns, Mildford!— March 2, 2012 6:43 p.m.
Sanders Shopping for Costly TV System
This is good snark, Matt. It's the Po-tterrr Reporrr. Jeesh. There they go again, wanting to shape the "quality of [our] life." And make us pay for it. And the "blanks remain for would-be vendors to fill in." Right. Dear Mayor: what we'd rather have is a mayor-cam, an attorney-cam, and a council-office-cam. With 24-hour video and sound monitors that put us your, Goldsmith's, and Demaio et al.'s offices, we'd really get our taxdollars' worth. And timesaving for you, too: No need for Public Records Act requests that cause you to burn papers and delete files and records.— February 22, 2012 3:19 p.m.
Controversial Bridgepoint, Sunroad End Lease
I'm sure Sanders will soon sit on a variety of boards: how about Virtual Capital of California LLC, with his old Coronado bank buddy Tom Stickel; SDCERS, along with his appointee from VCC LLC, V. Wayne Kennedy. Sanders presented himself in his mayoral campaign as a Virtual Capital executive (a phony resume created by Stickel)and claimed he would run San Diego "like a business," just like fellow Republican GW Bush. All both did was run us into the ground or off the road. Sanders had no experience running a business, of course, and here we are today. Even as Sanders' exit nears, he's still trying to implement the business plan: the council's new Economic Development committee spent yesterday listening to businessmen presenting ideas on how to run the city like a business. Groundhog's Day!!! Blah! The idea is flawed and never works; it's just empty rhetoric. Governments are not corporations. Here's my bizness plan: Sanders, virtual mayor, you're fired!— February 22, 2012 8:50 a.m.
San Diego a "Strong City?"
Great report. Where else is San Diego going to be showcased as a success story for "delivering critical municipal services" or be lauded for being a place with elected officials who "elevate the quality [of] life of its residents." Nowhere. Only on a website that charges $100,000. Out of the General Fund.— February 20, 2012 5:04 p.m.

July 4th Parade in Mitt Romney's Barber Tract May Be Cancelled
Maybe Romney will come and join the parade, with his dog on the roof of his golf cart.— February 16, 2012 8:29 p.m.
