Trump/Navarro saber-rattling has already shaken up China
Ya know - despite his obvious personality abnormalities I'm not really on the anti-Trump bandwagon with all of you. So take this with a grain of salt. But if I was in your shoes and I wanted to minimize the impact of President Trump I would listen to what Rahm Emmanuel is saying. Rather than swinging at windmills hoping for some miracle way to remove Trump from office you ought to "take a chill pill" and figure out how to get more Democrats into Congress. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/…— February 11, 2017 9:03 a.m.
La Jollans complain about airport noise
Yes - it could be anything from an honest misunderstanding or honest disagreement to the FAA intentionally being misleading - or anything in between. I really couldn't say with any certainty what it is.— February 10, 2017 3:40 p.m.
La Jollans complain about airport noise
Maybe Papa Doug and Irwin Jacobs work through their ideological differences and work together on the new private air traffic control system????— February 10, 2017 3:30 p.m.
La Jollans complain about airport noise
A bit before my time but I've read that one of the Marx brothers used to have a one-line gag "Who are you going to trust - me, or your lying eyes?" I think the joke was that even though he was blatantly lying about something and got caught he still was trying to get the other person to believe him. It was such a ridiculous lie and explanation that it was funny. It sounds like the FAA is saying the same thing "Who are you going to trust - us, or your lying eyes?"- but not as a joke. They want people to not believe their own eyes but to trust them.— February 10, 2017 10:49 a.m.
La Jollans complain about airport noise
Were the flight patterns officially changed? It seems like there is eyewitness accounts claiming they were but nothing official from the FAA? Does the FAA and/or SAN have to make some sort of public announcement or hold neighborhood information sessions? It seems like some sort of official procedure for that should be in place - maybe it isn't but that would seem pretty weird to me. Or maybe they had some sort of mandated announcement but it wasn't well publicized?— February 10, 2017 7:32 a.m.
La Jollans complain about airport noise
I wish the group success - certainly any invention which could reduce noise from aircraft would be valuable and would help society as a whole.— February 10, 2017 7:26 a.m.
Trump/Navarro saber-rattling has already shaken up China
I disagree with your projection about Trump destroying the country, but as you say time will tell. He is trying to change some things and with change comes risk. I do know that a lot of people have been predicting bad results for everything Trump related for a long time and so far those predictions have mostly been wrong. There were a lot of pundits predicting a rapid stock market crash if Trump got elected - how'd that prediction work out?— February 9, 2017 11:46 a.m.
Beyond bicycles
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" - Spock (or anyone with common sense). As of 2016 only 1.3% of commuters - even within 0.5 mi of a mass transit stop - use a bike to commute (http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/environm…). Expanding bike lanes to benefit the 1.3% at the expense of the 98.7% would be truly illogical. Public resources should be used to benefit the public - which means spending transportation dollars primarily to benefit those who use cars to commute.— February 7, 2017 6:37 a.m.
Drought is over (says local water authority)
I suspect horse and buggy riders were skeptical of automobiles.— February 5, 2017 11:27 a.m.
Drought is over (says local water authority)
That's assuming that future desalination plants won't provide any more water than the Carlsbad plant. What data or analysis does this scientist provide indicating that the Carlsbad plant is producing some sort of theoretical maximum? It would seem to me that the in theory the upper limit to the water from a desalination plant would be quite high.— February 5, 2017 11:24 a.m.
