The Hedgecocks sue city over Pacific Beach sidewalk slip
Well hopefully he has a way to go before that. He still has time to change his fate.— April 12, 2017 8:13 a.m.
The Hedgecocks sue city over Pacific Beach sidewalk slip
"a charming, ineffectual corporate welfarist" - great line. Maybe that could be the heading on his wikipedia page.— April 11, 2017 3:26 p.m.

Yes. For example, someone with a family income of 80K who commutes from the "Inland Empire" into LA or OC will be hit hard.— April 11, 2017 3:18 p.m.

I think KF would actually have an excellent chance at winning a state election. The state legislature and governor have made it clear that their only priorities are advocating for far-left wing policy positions. For example, CA is a blue state but not everyone in CA is far left wing enough to favor putting more money into a high-speed rail project which is clearly not cost-effective rather than taking care of basic transportation needs. I think a moderate Republican like KF would have an excellent chance of getting elected.— April 11, 2017 1:07 p.m.

The CA state legislators just pulled that squeeze in epic fashion - with SB1 raising CA car and gas taxes by about 50B over the next 10 years to (supposedly) pay for transportation infrastructure needs which have been neglected over the years. Personally, I'll believe the money will actually go into transportation infrastructure when I see it.— April 11, 2017 10:37 a.m.
The Hedgecocks sue city over Pacific Beach sidewalk slip
I does sound to me like the cyclist in that incident should have been assigned the lion's share of responsibility for what happened.— April 11, 2017 10:31 a.m.
Mission Valley planners scorn soccer end-run-around group
I'd add even one more zero than you. They're talking about roughly 5 thousand housing units, right? So let's say the value of that is roughly 5k X 2k / mo rent X 12 months which is about $100M / yr they could bring in if they were to lease all the residential units. So at a minimum I would suggest charging at least $10M / yr for a lease.— April 7, 2017 10:13 a.m.
NFL owners approve Raiders move to Vegas
Economist Roger Noll was on XTRA 1360 (a SD sports station) yesterday discussing how the LV subsidy is based on unrealistic assumptions and will basically be equivalent to residents pitching in about $1000 / ea to help the Raiders. The host seemed to mostly agree with what Noll was saying. I think it's notable that even some in the sports media are questioning the notion of public funding for stadia. I'm not sure how long the podcast link is up - the interview is about 10 minutes into the 3rd hour from yesterday's show. http://1360sports.iheart.com/media/play/27714257/— March 29, 2017 9:10 a.m.

Can an NFL field goal kicker kick a football high enough to hit a plane?— March 27, 2017 3:24 p.m.

I've heard the number 950M (750M for stadium + 200M maintenance) reported on the radio.— March 27, 2017 2:29 p.m.
