Show us the numbers, Civic San Diego
The North Park Redevelopment Project Area Committee (PAC) had lots of money and income because their Board was forward thinking. We deserve to see an accounting of our funds and learn exactly where the money now is, along with the money that is now being made by the NP Parking Garage, that is now earn a profit. There were also debts owed by the NP Red. PAC and those debts are to the best of my knowledge still unpaid. Simply put we had our money "Stolen" by the City that took our funds (that were supposed to improve NP, not just be added to the City coffers, and everyone including our elected Officials just looked the other way! Todd Gloria needs to set the record straight and tell us where all the NP PAC the money is, who now controls it, and most importantly why it is not being used for the purpose it was designed, which was to make NP a better place to live!— May 4, 2016 4:59 p.m.
SDPD sgt.'s racism case to go forward
Those supporting San Diego's finest should also support Police equality especially within the ranks by Police Officals, Judge Wohlfeil decision will help insure that will occur. Serving as a Police Officer must be hard enough without having to worry about "friction" from fellow Officers or worse ones own Supervisors.— April 30, 2016 2:50 p.m.
Time-out for pot shops, say county supervisors
The people have voted on this issue and yet our elected Leaders continue to fail to do what they are being PAID to do, which is enable people to follow the zoning laws; instead they are choosing to delay decisions, shifting these decisions to someone else in the future. I think it is FUNNY (sic) that there is no such thing as having too many liquor licenses in SD yet having a few MM's in SD County is too many. Far too many people are against one while turning a blind eye to the other, since the CA ABC has almost never seen an application that they have not approved. Idea: If delaying decisions also delayed these same Supervisors getting paid (since they are not doing the job they are being paid for) we would see few if any delays!— April 29, 2016 3:51 p.m.
San Diego cops a deal for online espionage
Unless the Mayor and especially Chief Zimmerman allow a citizen review board to oversee what the SDPD is doing, we all should have reason for concern because if if there was nothing "wrong" with what they were doing there would be no reason NOT to have some oversight.— April 17, 2016 8:49 a.m.
Mayor's pot-shop busters report due on 4/20
RE: San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer appropriated $221,000 of funding in this current year's budget for the three full-time positions, which include two "zoning investors" and a "combination inspector dedicated to specialized enforcement of illegal marijuana dispensaries.” It is always amazing to me that SD Mayor's can always find plenty of money to do these "pet" projects while other things go unfunded that have huge public support because of lack of funding. I wonder what the office of the Independent Budget Analysis (IBA) had to say about the cost vs benefit of this expenditure? I urge Dorian to post the specific job descriptions along with the salaries of those that got chosen for these important positions, since the voters of SD have already approved making Medical Marijuana, for those that qualify, legal.— April 15, 2016 8:28 p.m.
Is not paying taxes tantamount to terror?
Wow, now we have to watch out for sovereign citizen's as if we did not have enough to worry about. I wonder if Big Corp.'s are considered sovereign citizen's since they don't feel they need to pay taxes and they sure don't like the US Gov't telling them what to do? Any one know who we should ask for an offical listing of all the groups that we should be knowledgable about, since I'm sure that ignorance of the Law is no excuse?— April 13, 2016 6:22 a.m.
Police dust-up with family a sizable can of worms
Where is the body camera "video"— April 2, 2016 8:46 a.m.
Little Italy restaurant makes noise over Civic San Diego tactics
RE: "The nonprofit Civic San Diego oversees the dissolution of San Diego's redevelopment agency and has planning and permitting powers." Who exactly was responsible for all the funds from the North Park Redevelopment Project Area Committee getting shifted to Civic San Diego who can now whatever they want to with the money wherever they want to, instead of spending the money on what it was supposed to do, which was improve North Park. This is yet another perfect example of our precious tax dollars being "stolen" by our City government, which then gets spent on things that it was never designated to be spent for, thanks to our elected Leaders.— March 29, 2016 2:01 p.m.
Some things to check on Chargers' stadium plan
The SD voters should be chanting: **Stay(away)Vention** Or **No more Billions for Ultra Rich Sport Team Owners**— March 27, 2016 12:41 p.m.
Quality of life allegedly threatened in Point Loma
Great example of a wealthy neighborhood (*with plenty of City access*) trying their best to get what they want. But in this case the Owner was also able to hire high quality legal representation, that got the initial decision reversed. Any bets on: 1. Will the case gets appealed? Because **Preserve Point Loma** has lots of green and the longer they can tie up this development, the less likely it will occur. 2 What the legal fees will be set at for the losers, Preserve Point Loma?— March 26, 2016 12:55 p.m.
