City slams door on Faulconer-Chargers emails release
It goes without saying that CPRA should be renamed CRAP. This is yet another method that Politicians can use for CYA. Too bad we can't vote Hell No on C— November 3, 2016 2:34 p.m.
Ambulance provider fined for being late
I thought AMR bought Rural months ago.— October 22, 2016 2:45 p.m.
Trump University case headed to trial
Bet Trump will never appear in Court either for this or any of his rape cases. Why should he when he has his own aircraft and can easily be out of the country on "business" unless the court considers him a flight risk and removes his passport.— October 20, 2016 12:25 p.m.
San Diego home price soar, salaries lag
Agreed and that is one of the reasons that Developers getting additional Density and then leasing instead of selling is not the answer to SD housing problems. The City Council should require that all Projects have rent restricted Low and Low-Moderate units in order to get built, then SD would have ever more units that are affordable for most people. The only problems is that Developers would scream FOUL since they could no longer make a killing in the SD marketplace like they are doing now.— October 19, 2016 4:19 p.m.
San Diego home price soar, salaries lag
I believe the housing market in SD will go up at least 10% after the election as everyone tries to put their money in Real Estate instead of keeping it in the bank or in the Stock Market. Look at what is happening in Mexico to the Peso and you will get an idea of what is coming for the US$, which many believe is being propped up to make things look better for the election. Since the SD housing market is one of the hottest in the USA, investors from all over the world are interested in owning here. SD would be really smart to place an additional tax on owning property here if the owner is not a resident of CA.— October 19, 2016 12:47 p.m.
City report confronts problem of food container recycling
The solution is to add a 5 cent CRV for every "new" container and then they will be cleaned off and recycled just like Aluminum cans and plastic bottles are! I'm sure the restaurant industry will whine but the fall back position should be for the City to add a special fee to all food that uses these containers (like there is for paint, tires and auto batteries to make sure they get recycled.— October 19, 2016 12:41 p.m.
Sales tax linked to pollution
$ANDAG will continue to do what SANDAG does best, build roads and support local elected officials who will then support SANDAG. SANDAG is yet another CPUC that is far too cozy with those it "regulates." We need to revamp SANDAG with elected Leaders that are not going to rubber-stamp all new projects. Come On SD Leaders, lets plan for the widest possible group of people using all manner of mobility "vehicles" not JUST the lucky few that are physically strong enough to ride bicycles. A few points to consider: Where is all the new motorcycle parking stripping, so riders can park for free in all the odd shaped nooks and crannies on our City streets without taking up a metered spot, or are bicycles the only things that are important these days? There should be motorcycle and/or electric bicycle parking everywhere not just in a few corrals that cost many thousands of dollars each to install along with the removal of vital on-street vehicle parking spaces! Expensive bikes need parking locations that offer security, why is the city not also installing secure cycle parking lockers, if we really want to encourage commuters to "ride to work"? How many can afford to lock their $4,000 bike up to a parking meter and then replace all the components after they have been stolen or damaged by vandals? One complain I've heard is that the City is using bicycle lanes to not only change traffic patterns but to somehow justify reducing the parking requirements for both new construction and/or remodeling, since they believe in the myth that all residents will use mass transit and not own cars in the future... which is feel good speak for the poor will be force into transportation corridors that will shift it's parking burden into the adjacent neighborhoods, which is already happening in North Park and other locations through San Diego! Watch out what you support, it may come back to bite your neighborhood and your property values if you are lucky enough to own!— September 23, 2016 2:07 p.m.
San Diego taxpayers to be Chargers laughingstock?
CITY SERVICES NOT $TADIUM$— August 21, 2016 9:17 a.m.
tronc to San Diego: you're fired
The consolidation of our media is just in time to help control the "news" about the upcoming elections. Expect to see even more BIA$ in the future!— August 20, 2016 9:05 a.m.
San Diego taxpayers to be Chargers laughingstock?
Don — It will be interesting to see who if ANY of our elected officials actually get real vocal AGAINST any new $tadium that the Chargers do not self fund! Let all those that support the DEAL list what projects in their District will not be funded because the money was diverted to pay for another $tadium, that should get the voters attention! Perhaps we can Save $D from the Chargers! $an Diego has been CHARGED far to much already and it is now time to Say NO to yet another billion dollar rip off! IMO The Chargers fans would be far better off if Qualcomm continued to be used since then they could "tailgate" which is one of the perks that they will lose at the new $tadium.— August 20, 2016 8:04 a.m.
