North Park Jack in the Box rebuild permit has yet to pop up
It is clear to me that JIB is trying to bury this lawsuit and the CITY is happy to help them since both Parties are hiding from the Lawsuit. Having attended most if not all of the meetings, where JIB people told everyone that they would not tear down any exterior walls, only to see them gone in a single day, makes me mad especially since the JIB Construction people were laughing at all the locals that watched them demo it! This is a clear case of a Big Corp. thumbing its nose at residents that were supportive of the JIB remodel IF IT DID NOT CHANGE THE EXTERIOR IN ANY WAY! JIB will lose the appeal because not only did they (and the City) not follow the rules but then they tried to make it appear that it was the residents that were in the wrong. **BTW:** *Think what you will about Cory Briggs but he took our case when other lawyers were too scared of their reputation with the City to help defend us from the JIB Corp.*— February 17, 2017 3:34 p.m.
Tronc to Union-Tribune: attrit now!
Using the UT to push FakeNews (especially Political FakeNews) in SD will more than make up for any costs incurred by those that will profit from it! I wouldn't be surprised to learn that was the new Owners plan all along! The value of the SD Reader has doubled again and will continue to do so as it is now the only outlet that encourages balanced public debate; unlike the VOSD and the other "owned" local rags!— February 11, 2017 1:34 p.m.
Trump goes swamp fishing
Hiring losers is yet another attempt to make Trump look better. I believe the game plan is to get the people hostile so that martial law can be declared similar to what happened in Turkey!— January 29, 2017 4:19 p.m.
Drought is over (says local water authority)
Big Water wants to profit from every drop of water in CA as much as they can! They fight any additional projects that will increase our supply (unless it is owned by them) by claiming that these projects will hurt our Climate/Ecosystem! At the same time Nestle (and others) pay almost nothing to pump huge amounts of water out of the ground, bottle it, then ship it so that it can be sold both inside and outside CA at a giant markup, not to mention the plastic bottle waste! If CA voters want to do anything beside just continuing to enrichen Politicans and Big Water, we need to limit how much potable water is being sold by Big Corp.'s by putting a per bottle tax on the water so that the tax can then be used to increase our water storage capacity statewide! By creating this CA "additional" capacity, this water would be available for use statewide without Big Water claiming control of it. This would be like installing additional Solar generation and adding the energy into the grid. I expect property values to now begin to move upward quickly as the charm of all these older (and soon to be historic homes) attracts people from all over the world that are seeking the lifestyle they offer! The real estate buying frenzy has just begun and it will be fueled by all the people that are now finding it ever more uncomfortable to be living where they are now because of recent changes in the Political climate of many parts of the USA or other places. SD's Mid-City is becoming known nationally as a VERY HIP place to live. This is why all those that now own rental property here want to build them out (increase the number of their units on each property as high as possible) in order to maximize their investments. This is why we are now hearing about the lack of "affordable housing" which is just a canard for allowing Developers to get even richer! Unless Developers are required to build more rent restricted (say for 30 years) Low and Low-Moderate housing in every new housing Project over 3 units, our housing shortage will continue to get worse instead of bbetter despite all the sound bites from our elected Leaders!— January 8, 2017 7:42 a.m.

Pro-Density Cheerleaders are assisting Developers to profit while doing too little to ease the shortage of Low and Low-Moderate housing units. They are the ones responsible for the "affordable housing" shortage (as opposed to all the market rate housing) we have today because they are focused on profits and are enabled to do so because of their donations to elected officials! Mission Hills Heritage and SOHO are working together in the only way that they can, seeing that the City and the CD3 Office have taken advantage of all the people that have spent many years working on improving their Community Plan Update only to be sold out at the end, just like so many people in North Park (NP) were. The one big difference between NP and Mission Hills is that the NP Planning Committee (NPPC) is owned by NP Main Street and the CD3 office; so, of course, all the last minute planning changes were approved by the majority of the North Park Planning Committee Board *because it was the best we could do*. Many in NP are also angry and I expect to see additional lawsuits occur once NP residents get organized.— January 7, 2017 2:51 p.m.

ICare - Calling out someone as a NIMBY just identifies you as name caller! Stick to the facts and others might pay attention to what you are saying. Good Luck— January 7, 2017 2:44 p.m.

Geranium - You have hit the nail on the head, TG was looking out for both his career and going for all the Developer donations he could while still in office as CD3 Council member. I look forward to reading more from you. Thanks for posting great comments.— January 7, 2017 2:25 p.m.

Big $$$ is now firmly in control of San Diego, so everyone should expect to see our elected Leaders bending over to support every new whim, from them, because donations are what are really important these days, not protecting the Quality of Life for residents.— December 27, 2016 9:53 a.m.
