Golden Eagle Farm to close
Anyone else her the galloping as Big Developers race to acquire what will surely become the next SD regional "node" that just has to be developed, since it cannot stay just a picturesque farm any longer since their is money to be made? **Maybe they will call it, *New Ramona* or *Far Out East $D*...**— October 24, 2014 12:12 p.m.
Shy of the bull's eye
If Target was going to be a real Good Neighbor they would attend at least several community meetings BEFORE they finalize their plans, rather than simply tell the Community what they are going to do! If Todd Gloria had any real Leadership, he would have already set up one or more Community meetings to gather Community input rather than just smile while a South Park community icon becomes a fond memory. **Hopefully the wonderful seafood food truck, with the huge following, can stay!** I hope South Park will not allow their "Business District" to do what NP Main Street (the North Park Business District) did, which is keep food trucks from setting up in North Park, since they want no competition; despite what residents want which is high quality low cost foods to choose from. I've got my fingers crossed for the residents of South Park.— October 15, 2014 4:41 p.m.
Almost 40 hours in traffic per year
If SANDAG actually listened to the majority of those speaking out at their **San Diego Forward** meetings, *they would fast track all the bicycle commuter improvements FIRST* since each person that replaces their gasoline/diesel powered vehicle would help end traffic congestion for all the rest of SD's commuters. Building ever more roads will only guarantee that congestion will keep getting worse, since by the time new roadway projects get built, the number of those using them has also increased. SANDAG should offer money to help commuters replace their vehicles with electric scooters and similar eVehicles since reducing the number of commuters using cars and trucks is the key to reducing San Diego's congestion, especially since fuel costs will continue to rise! It is time to spend SANDAG Billions not on more roads but helping commuters purchase new electric powered tiny eVehicles and eBicycles in order to get gasoline/diesel big cars and trucks off our roadways.— September 19, 2014 10:32 a.m.
Hope for the little people
Don - I stand corrected and value your kind words, you are an inspiration for many in San Diego and beyond. Energy and water affect every voter in CA, so combined they will now be part of the political debate and as such, will only draw more attention to how things have changed under Gov. Browns Leadership. + The ☀ future is ours to see... CaptD— September 1, 2014 10 a.m.
Hope for the little people
danfogel - Thanks for your lengthily reply. Since Gov. Brown can exert enormous influence upon those that sit on the CPUC, he is in a position to change the course of future CPUC decisions, especially if his political agenda needs some help before the election. I'm sure what you said about the CPUC is factual, but I also believe that if Gov. Brown asked those currently sitting on the CPUC for their resignations they probably would comply, especially if there were calls from the public to do the same thing. Energy costs and water availability are both creating a political tipping point that the voters of CA are concerned about, so if there is going to be a change now is the time it will happen.— September 1, 2014 9:53 a.m.
Community turns on North Park attacker(s)
Video is the new equalizer, since CA does not have open carry gun laws. The more monitored video camera's that are being used around NP the better, since when people are being videotaped they act nicer. Since the SDPD and the State ABC are allowing ever more late night clubs, drinking venues, stores, etc. to serve and/or sell alcohol until 2AM if not later, NP is rapidly becoming like Pacific Beach, which is known as the most crime ridden part of San Diego! All women have a right to be fearful, since they are at a distinct disadvantage to men when it comes to physical conflicts, unless they are very well trained and even then, if the attacked has a knife or other weapon, training becomes less of an equalizer. NP needs more street lights, linked video camera and enhanced enforcement or ever more customers will simply choose to party and/or live somewhere else that is much safer. **All those business that are raking-in huge profits** need to step up and do it quickly or they all will see their bottom lines plummet ***if everyone, not just women don't feel safe to walk NP after dark*** and BTW: these same big Businesses should also pay to clean up after their patrons without trying to make local residents do it for them in some form of additional maintenance district that shifts the cost to residents who are not profiting from these late night business! **If NP is not Safe & Clean, then it is no longer a great place to live or work.**— August 31, 2014 3:36 p.m.
Putting the "Public" back into the CPUC
A major step in the right direction, since the CPUC now has far too much power to be operating behind closed doors as the recent history of ever higher rates and/or too cozy relationships with the Utilities the CPUC is mandated to regulate. Gov. Brown needs to put his personal friendships aside and clean up the CPUC or admit that his Office is part of the CPUC problem now facing far too many Californians who are being over charged for their energy because of pro-Utility rate decisions!— August 27, 2014 4:56 p.m.
Earth loses 63 trillion gallons of groundwater
Instead of the XL pipeline, we should be building large water pipelines coast to coast so that excessive water in one area could then be shifted to where it is most needed.— August 25, 2014 4 p.m.
