Who's frivolous?
RE: *Last month, city council members voted to appeal Wohlfeil's January ruling that ordered Goldsmith to turn over what is estimated to be 25,000 pages of emails between the city attorney and the League of California Cities, sent to and from Goldsmith's private email account.* and *If Goldsmith's appeal is granted, the group does not have to abide by California's public records act either.* ***This is nothing more than Political CYA*** for all our elected Officials, that know that they too are also at risk should everyone be forced to hand over their private emails, which they have been using to further their political careers, and we are not talking just about everyone in San Diego. I expect these appeals to go all the way to the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) ***if for no other reason than to delay the fallout*** from the release of all these (and similar) documents that will then expose all those that sought to profit from their Office.— May 16, 2015 12:36 p.m.
City influence peddling nears $4 million
Matt - I'd suggest that you consider looking into what happened to all the Redevelopment Project Area money and property that the City of San Diego ***absorbed***, when the Redevelopment Agency was eliminated by the State. Many are now finding out that nobody is saying what happened to all the records and as far as they are concerned, nobody is talking about it at the City. One great example is the North Park Theater which was restored at great cost which also had restriction on its deed to prevent certain alcohol related usages, yet the NP Theatre was just sold, then resold at great profit and will now be turned into a nightclub, all without any public input. This is just one example of how those with money/influence are now controlling the City, since none of these issues make it into the news, few if any are aware of what is happening at City Hall.— May 15, 2015 3:45 p.m.
Plans on community plan updates soon to come
No surprise since the longer it takes the more Big Developers can make use if old Planning Codes which allow to much Density. North Park in has several BIG projects that made use of OLD code loopholes.— May 13, 2015 1:26 p.m.
Open-door Airbnb in Burlingame
☆ BURLINGAME DENSITY KARMA ☆ This is the ULTIMATE NIMBY story, since there are those that live in Burlingame that happily push DENSITY upon the rest of North Park while wanting to keep any and all DENSITY away from where they live. Can anyone reading this story imagine the impact of having people parking on your street that don't reside there! I wonder what everyone will think when the word gets out that Burlingame has plenty of free safe street parking that is also just a cheap taxi ride away from the Airport. Now that more drivers also carry bicycles, expect to see neighborhoods, like Burlingame, that have traditionally been sheltered from commuter traffic to become on street parking lots, so those that do commute can park for free and then use their bicycles for their "last mile" of commuting, which has already been happening in other parts of North Park. Up to now, Burlingame has been sheltered physically by its nearby canyons and politically by their wealthy residents influence both in Council District 3 and City Hall (as the above article illustrates) but now as Bob Dylan sang a long time ago, "The times they are a changing". If DENSITY is being shoved down the throats of North Park residents by the North Park Planning Committee (whose Chair just happens to live in Burlingame), why should Burlingame residents be spared, since it too is so very close to Downtown and it is located along a major bus route which perfectly describes a "Transportation Corridor" (a Planning Dept. buzz word that is being used to push ever more DENSITY upon North Park) PLUS it has plenty of safe FREE on street parking that is most attractive to commuters looking to avoid having to park downtown and/or pay outrageous monthly fees. Perhaps MTS will construct a new deluxe bus stop on 30th street so that all those that want to commute from Burlingame, without using a bicycle, can wait to be picked up in the style they are accustomed!— May 7, 2015 10 a.m.
Palms win, hands down
No Thanks, NP got steamrollered by a small group that kept "discussing" street trees until at one meeting where they had a majority. Then they claimed the matter was "settled". This technique has been used to avoid what the majority wants often in NP and other parts of SD. BTW Jacarandas only look good for a short time during the year, unlike Palms that look SoCal all year long. All streetscape drawings depict Jacarandas in full bloom which is not how they appear most of the year.— May 7, 2015 8:46 a.m.
Nathan Fletcher's $3000 triplet flip-flop fine

But will there be enough water for One Paseo?
Diogenes - You have hit the nail on the head, Our most pressing problem is Elected Leadership not Water. If we had better Elected Leadership then we would restrict growth until we acquired additional water (more Ocean desalinization) which would freeze current usage and prevent any future water shortages while at the same time NOT RAISING THE PRICE OF WATER.— April 11, 2015 8:28 a.m.
But will there be enough water for One Paseo?
I agree, Developer Greed is ruining the quality of life for everyone that currently lives in San Diego, since shoe horning even more people will do nothing but make everything in San Diego more like LA (aka Hell-A) as we are required to conserve so that ever more can move here. San Diego should be doing the opposite and raise home values so that we become more like Carmel or Marin instead of yet another Orange County...— April 11, 2015 8:23 a.m.
Vespa Guy, please park however you want
The City needs to allow motorcycles to park in all the tiny spaces, like at the end of a red zone, which will then increase the amount of on-street packing spaces, since motorcycles will not have to take an entire parking "slot" so that it's rear tire is against the curb in order to not get ticketed. Left unsaid, is the fact that the City Is not interested in providing FREE solutions to parking since they make big money on parking enforcement, as do all the parking lot companies who would not support a large increase in free on-street parking. Another EASY FREE solution is to allow Vespa type scooters and motorcycles to be parked like bicycles (human and/or electric powered) where the sidewalk meets the curb, so long as they don't block foot traffic. The next time anyone is frustrated by a "Cyclist" it is important for everyone to remember that each of these "Cycles" is not yet another "Car" on the road and/or taking up a full parking space, which helps reduce traffic congestion for all of us.— April 2, 2015 8:08 a.m.
Not in my backyard canyon
Dryw - The idea is to have facilities all over SD not just in one or two areas because there are homeless everywhere not just in one or two areas, which is important because when you have to go, you have to go!— March 13, 2015 2:11 p.m.
