It’s raining PR
Save water and get your water rates raised, as the City finds another way to make it more costly to live in SD. If we all had used more water, instead of less, then they could not have run this scam on us. Now the Mayor gets to spend over $2 million making himself look good for taking us to the Cleaners. Maybe if we buy less Charger tickets then the City will force us to pay more a new $tadium...— July 29, 2015 3:15 p.m.
Sending a message from 60 feet up
Too bad many more of SD's older neighborhoods don't do the same thing instead of being like North Park whose Planning Group is controlled by their BID that want ever more DENSITY, no matter what the effect is upon local residents. If Bay Park building height remains a 30' limitation, then this area's property values will skyrocket as people seek out locations that are real neighborhoods that will not become yet another "HIGH DENSITY" haphazard assortment of building after building after building. Way To Go Bay Park!— July 25, 2015 3:41 p.m.
After 130 years, Daily Transcript going dark
Don - I think that the Uptown San Diego Examiner and the San Diego Metropolitan Examiner & Daily Business Report will expand its business model as needed to provide San Diego with its services. BTW: Their banner says that they were established 1937.— July 23, 2015 3:37 p.m.
Mayor's $1.6 million drought PR plan is back
Twister - I don't suggest riots but I do think that if we all used more water then it will force our elected Leaders to actually do something sooner instead of turning a blind eye to what is now happening which is them standing bye while the big water users get lower rates, while the rest of US pay more while trying to use less!— July 8, 2015 3:14 p.m.
Mayor's $1.6 million drought PR plan is back
This will be just a $1,000,000 PLUS give away to a PR firm that the Mayor wants to make himself look better to the public. This is what his "MESSAGE" should be: WASTING CITY MONEY is even worse than WASTING WATER The real question is: IS SAN DIEGO WISE TO SAVE WATER* by using City Funds? * http://m.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/np-star/2010/… From almost exactly 5 years ago— July 2, 2015 8:49 a.m.
NFL team could play in L.A. in 2016
Billion Dollar Bargain <--> Billion Dollar Boondoggle? If you are the Chargers it is a Bargain or if you are the taxpayers its a Boondoggle. BTW: San Diego ratepayers are already going to be shelling out their share of the 4-5 Billion Dollars cost of the Utility Debacle at San Onofre ( aka SanOnofreGate*), so what is another Billion Dollars? Go (AWAY) Chargers Lets Spend a Billion Dollars on More Water by Saying Good Bye to the Chargers... That is something we all can drink to… * #SanOnofreGate is the new Twitter hashtag that will allow you to keep up to date on the ongoing investigation into the multi-billion $ SCE-CPUC ripoff. Some of the above posted here: http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/topics/land-use/th…— May 21, 2015 12:42 p.m.
Carmel Valley residents displeased with limbo
This "trip reduction deal" is nothing more than a wink and a nod between a potential BIG DONOR and all the City Council members (that want as many donations as they can get), that if they all play nice and vote for the Kilroy project, Kilroy will not forget them when they ask/need help. If the City Council does not delay this vote until all the residents have had their say, then what it means is that our City Council will rubber stamp any project that Big Donors want. No matter what the residents or City Code says.— May 20, 2015 4:53 p.m.
City influence peddling nears $4 million
Dwbat - The NP Theater was recently sold at a discounted rate by the City to the owner of the West Coast Tavern, who then sold it and the West Coast Tavern (making a big profit) to a new owner that has turned it into a nightclub called The Observatory. There is now late night partying behind the building which has become very worrisome for all local residents! When asked about the details of the NP Theater sale and the restrictions that were placed by the NP Project Area Planning Committee upon the deed restricting such "non theater" uses, the City is just not responding. Perhaps you can learn more.— May 17, 2015 1:11 p.m.
Who's frivolous?
Probably because they all now make much more from legalized donations and connections they establish while they are in Office not to mention all the "consulting jobs" they get after they leave Office. Their salaries, health benefits and retirement payouts are only a deluxe free meal ticket until their real income stream begins.— May 17, 2015 12:44 p.m.
More bikeways or more highways?
CALTRANS is in the BUSINESS of building ROADS and therefore they shy away from spending BIG BUCK$ on "personal mobility" since that does not benefit those BIG Companies that construct them. I say "<b>personal mobility</b>" because using the term "bicycle" or "bikeway" is elitist since it does not allow for the use of these routes by those that cannot ride a manually powered bike. The handicapped, and many other commuters will be using electric powered "<b>personal mobility</b>" eVehicles (that may very well include eBicycles) in the near future in ever increasing numbers, so for CALTRANS to say on one hand they are planing San Diego Forward and to actually NOT be planning for what will certainly be a major form of transportation defies logic. CALTRANS has been build roadways for decades and their track records clearly illustrates that by the time they do get additional capacity built, it is time to build more. This must stop and now is the time to re-define CALTRANS mission to better reflect what is needed in the future, if San Diego is to improve its transportation corridors. We need to start building "<b>personal mobility</b>" ways now and then in several years decide where to build even more, that way we can provide for all those that will be using <b>personal mobility</b> instead of their gasoline powered vehicles to commute in San Diego! BTW: Jack Shu should be on the SANDAG BOARD since he is not yet another local leader that rubber stamps ever more road construction because it is good for ever more donations...— May 17, 2015 12:27 p.m.
