Ex SeaWorld manager charged with embezzlement
Apparently this toad was raising the temperature slowly enough that the frog was lulled into a false sense of security . . .— April 7, 2016 3:52 p.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Oh, how I pray you are right! But mark my words, they will find a way to shuttle it off to a special election for the very reasons you enumerate. Unless somebody can make enough noise so the media simply can't ignore it. Holding our own meeting outside of the meetings trumped up by the power structure is one way--something like "Occupy." VIGOROUS objection.— April 7, 2016 1:38 p.m.
Qualcomm engineers get axed, then train foreign replacements
"Up to now, he has been getting away with contradictory statements." --Don Bauder Unfortunately, doing so has almost always worked in the past by other politicians, and there is little indication that voters will wise up.— April 7, 2016 3:40 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
"Don Bauder April 4, 2016 @ 8:55 p.m. "AlexClarke: Those fans will turn out en masse for a vote on subsidizing a stadium. The politicians realize that and cave to the billionaire team owners. "There is another thing to remember: billionaire owners want the taxpayers to pay for a stadium because stadiums are not profitable investments. Best, Don Bauder" . . . and, the non-fan voters will stay home, because any vote will be in a "minor" election.— April 7, 2016 3:26 a.m.
Some things to check on Chargers' stadium plan
Mary Hillebrecht: "Mission Valley" is a misnomer. It is not a valley, it is a riverbed. When it's not flooded you could call it a floodplain, but it is not a valley. All of the development in the San Diego River's bed/floodplain was approved by past crooks running the City, elected and appointed. It is fit only for wildlife habitat, or at best, cow pasture.— April 6, 2016 10:06 p.m.
Some things to check on Chargers' stadium plan
Such "estimates" are always ridiculously low. Ask them for the details, including the math, spelling out exactly how they arrived at the figure. Even when the estimate is reasonable, the low bidder is typically a fair-haired boy, who makes his/her/its money on "change orders." It's all fantasy, including "adults" playing kid's games for millions and billions while nicking taxpayer grownups who could care less.— April 6, 2016 9:56 p.m.
Will the NFL be as powerful in three decades?
If it was by Steinbeck (and Ricketts), it was the one from which "The Log From the Sea of Cortez was excerpted. The rest had to do with littoral organisms.— March 15, 2016 11:58 p.m.
Will the NFL be as powerful in three decades?
Simile!— March 15, 2016 11:54 p.m.
Will the NFL be as powerful in three decades?
I hope you took it littorally. There is, of course, a book called "The Sea of Cortez." I presume you read Steinbecks's.— March 15, 2016 9:25 a.m.
Will the NFL be as powerful in three decades?
As long as I don't catch you peering at me.— March 15, 2016 9:21 a.m.
