Escondido homeowners stand up to Stuck in the Rough
Come to a compromise people! The HOA had no problem when the course was still beautiful with manicured greens and daily watered fairways. The golf course was losing over $30,000.00 a month. What were they supposed to do? Now the entire course is an eyesore, property values are plummeting, and we can't seem to get along. There are options aren't there? How 'bout fewer homes being built, and the HOA buying and maintaining a nine holer? What would the market think about that? Otherwise, in my humble and uneducated opinion, get ready for a fight because that suit has got legs.— June 29, 2013 11:59 a.m.
California dentist and wife admitted stealing from patients
How'd that happen? Insane dentist and co-dependent wife to the Sweetwater Superintendent. I know, I know I've read your prior comments on the subject and I agree. However, wasn't this dentist making enough money as it was? The deal they usually make takes a few factors into consideration. Their age is definitely one, their ability to make restitution, and of course the money it would take to put on a trial is always a big one. However, the judge could completely vacate the deal and do what he wants. Its been done many times much to the chagrin of private attorneys. The report mentioned that victims would be at the sentencing proceedings. Outrage, pain, and anger could move the judge to do it. Hope he does. Dentists for some reason are often convicted of sexual assaults while patients are out cold. It was just a matter of time someone would resort to this weird form of theivery. Man, I can't get my wife to do anything with me. How'd this nut convince his wife to follow along? Hell, it might've been all her idea to begin with. Getting caught is all part of the disease too, I imagine. Either they never considered the consequences, or they were so arrogant they thought they were smarter than the authorities. It's just scary that an occupation of trust where a person is most vulnerable has been forever tainted by people like this. Like 'dem jagoffs at Sweetwater, right Eastlaker? Oops, I did it too.— June 29, 2013 11:38 a.m.
Boss sentenced for brawl with employees
Told you that mexican food is spicy! That's how it is with us mexicans, mess with one bean,...well, you know. Think he'll keep his job when he gets out in 15 days, or less?— June 29, 2013 11:13 a.m.
Kanye West's Yeezus
Drink some more Hennessey, act like an ass, hook up with an ever bigger self absorbed ass, say stupid and ignorant things and rake in the dough. And we wonder why this country is in the state its in? I love hip-hop when it has something to say. I despise hip-hop when only party, hate and disrespect are glorified. The syntax and phoenetic flow may be dated but Public Enemy, BDP, NWA, they had something to say. Tupac and Big Poppa had something to say. As long as the media listens and TMZ glorifies, we have no other choice but to change the station or simply tune out. Enough with these self indulgent pukes already!— June 28, 2013 8:50 a.m.
None
Even 'though I know nobody gives a rat's ass and even bothers to read my mindless drivel, here goes anyways. Was watching the news this morning when I caught a report on the now infamous Lance Armstrong. I'm going to paraphrase here. He was quoted as saying that the international doping comission destroyed his life. My God does this piece of shit that forever tainted my beloved sport and passtime not get it? Maybe we dont get it? Nah. As early as '99, he tested dirty! He filed lawsuits, defamed innocent people and destroyed their lives and credibility. Now the worm is lashing out at everyone but himself. Now I understand why Nike pulled their support for the livestrong foundation. The maniac doesn't believe he did anything wrong. He still claims that the seven titles are his, no matter what anyone says. What a jerk! I hope everyone sues him and leaves him penniless. "Oh, give him a break", I've heard. I could, if it was an isolated incident! This went on for years. Silence was insured by intimidation, threats and the promises of legal retaliation. Thats how messed up this clown's thinking was and is to this day. I feel bad about the people's lives he destroyed. People who told the truth and were crucified for it are still waiting for an apology. I don't think they'll ever get one, thats how damaged this chump is. Shame on you Armstrong! When the shit hits the fan, for God's sake don't ask, "Why is this happening to me?"— June 28, 2013 8:37 a.m.
Bad service in San Diego
D'ya get it? Nobody is asking for anything out of the ordinary. Let me pose this to you, Clutter. Don't you take pride in what you do. Whatever vocation you pursue deserves the best you can be. That's all we're saying. Metaphors and analogys are many. They're really not neccessary. It is black and white. You're either good, or bad. You either love your job, or you don't. That is the issue, thats what I believe. And guess what, that pizza joint should have the same service I get at the best place in town. If you settle for less,... well, hows that for a metaphor?— June 22, 2013 9:50 a.m.
Daddy, medium-well
Thats all it is? I thought that I'm simply insane. Never been brave enough to have it diagnosed or to run around with the label in my head. Thanks so much for that. Have you ever seen the way the corners on those damned labels curl up and eventually fray? How do you get the cooking done? The allignment is upset when the mise-en-place is combined. I understand the symmetry if you're cooking classic dishes. Is that all you prepare? You want order my friend? Sushi is an art that is nothing but precision and perfection. You sound like you might know that. It has put all kinds of order in my mad daily rituals. Give it a try. The kid? Welcome to mind over matter time. The chaos and disorder that a tiny human being, (challenged or not) brings into your life, is nothing compared to the feeling when we do peer into those imperfect eyes and see ourselves beaming back. Now thats order baby.— June 20, 2013 1:11 p.m.
neighborhoods/otay-mesa -- Otay Mesa
Guess its just you and me Jonathan. D'ya get the feeling we're the only ones here? Lets talk, you and me, Mr209. Nobody cares about us poor souls south of the Highway 54 corridor. Sure, them Eastlake peoples, they got it good out there, sort of. They may have great restaurants, shopping, parks, beautiful homes, hey, hey! We've got ah, um oh yeah, we have a Walmart and a great overpriced theatre. Have you seen our trolley stop at Iris? Man it's so, ah, y'know,...old. Okay, technically that's in Nestor. Okay, okay, how 'bout the Hawaiian BBq place around Palm and Beyer. We got that. Man, we used to have a Pizza Hut, (by the Alpha Beta, now Rite-Aid or whatever) we also used to have a Taco Bell now a Tacos el Gordo and that ya me callo gordo. I'm just realizing that the Otay Mesa I grew up in has dissapeared. Don't get me wrong, I love living here. Even back in the seventies we would have to leave the Otay Mesa area to really enjoy ourselves. Mostly it was Imperial Beach or Chula Vista during our summers. North side of the pier or Rollerskateland. I do all my activities away from here but, I do reside here and love the peace and quiet. Sure, occasionally we hear the SDPD airship assisting ground units in the area or sometimes even on our street! No neighborhood watch needed, we all pay attention. We did recently build a YMCA nearby and we couldn't ask for better neighbors, even the ones we don't talk to or know. Remember the blackout? At first, we were all wandering aimlessly in our cul-de sac, kind of in a daze not really comprehending the enormity of it all. Everything was down. Slowly but surely conversations were started with neighbors we only curtly wave to in the morning, as we rush into our cars. We were actually behaving the way neighbors used to when I was just a kid on Narwhal st. Before I knew it someone turned on his car stereo and in no time the block party was underway. So guess what, we're not really alone, (yes we are) so to heck with them. We'll just keep talking to ourselves. I often do, ask anyone who doesn't listen to a word I say. laters— June 20, 2013 12:48 p.m.
Will Civic San Diego help truly needy?
All you previous commenters are obviously much better informed than I am. San Diego city spreads all over the county in patches. Take a look at zoning maps. You might be surprised. All downtown pet projects are being nurtured and we get the full court media press to fool the normal person who really doesn't pay attention or care. Let me tell you something, here in Otay Mesa where I live, I received a letter from Ben Hueso about lights that were installed at Lucky Waller-Silver Wing park. Meanwhile our sidewalks are cracked, streets are in sorry shape etc. Thats not why I'm writing 'though. Mayor Filner's fiancee is the person on point for the homeless. Center City simply changed their name and business as usual. A real plan for the homeless is needed. Why can't we approve the art proposal for those blocks north of Broadway, thus creating more revenue for funding these projects. We are a big city who's city administrators insist on keeping a small town mentality. Lets stimulate more interest in this town besides the obvious money making machines that are our amusemant parks and such. And whats wrong with a Times Square West? Here's a word you'll understand, revenue! Here's one you might not, sanity?— June 20, 2013 11:12 a.m.
Bad service in San Diego
Hey Clutter, if you read closely you would've noticed a common denominator here. No pretentious comments were made. They were honest people who are tired of bad service. Thats all. Heres the thing, I've been in the food service industry for decades. Like most chefs, I've moved around so I believe I can be objective about this subject matter having worked through-out the country and San Diego. Servers are people,......duh! So are the chefs, busboys and managers. So treat your customers like people. If you're content with defending the poor service and attitudes we're trying to speak up on, maybe greenpeace needs your dilligent love of the universe. Or maybe,.....nah, taking it personal don't help either.— June 19, 2013 2:47 p.m.
