Patrick Ferncase, 28, has been named as a suspect in the death of another man who was alsoheld in custody at the same jail. San Diego County Sheriff sent out a press release declaring that a 56-year-old sex offender was found mortally wounded in his jail cell, which he shared with Ferncase, on March 12, 2022. The injured man died on March 29, according to the Sheriff. Ferncase is due in court today, March 30, 2022, where he might be arraigned on new, additional charges.

Jury selection begins for David Leroy Lucero Jr
It seems there is another new competency hearing, every so often, which then delays start of a jury trial yet again. The last competency hearing on February 28 reportedly found David Lucero, who is now 37 years old, competent for trial. As of this month, defendant David Lucero has been in custody twelve years without trial. His next court date is set for March 30, 2022, in the downtown San Diego courthouse. Prosecutors Patrick Espinoza and Matt Greco remain on the case, as well as celebrity defense attorney Mark Geragos and his assistant, second counsel Alexandra Kazarian.

Young man clad in black beats janitor at Plaza Paseo Real
When he spoke to the judge at the beginning of the hearing, Patrick James Ferncase seemed confused and said, “I thought I was getting the whole thing recorded,” and he looked around the courtroom. The judge patiently confirmed whether or not he still wanted to act as his own attorney, both before and after the pre-trial hearing.

Vista child grabber gets four years prison
Alan Ray Sasseen, now 63, made a plea deal today, he admitted one felony lewd act in public and one misdemeanor failure to register as a sex offender. Sasseen was reportedly registered as a guest at the Vista Inn where he exposed his private parts to others in a public area there. The location of that offense is less than 2 miles from the Vista library, where in the year 2018 he beat up one girl while he dragged away her younger sister; in that case, Sasseen admitted felony assault and attempted kidnap, and he was sent away to a California prison; he was apparently released early. In his new plea deal, Sasseen expects 4 years and 6 months prison, he could have gotten six years for the new crimes he admitted. Sentencing is now set for March 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Department 5 of San Diego’s North County Superior courthouse in Vista, California.

Sentencing is now set for March 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Department 5 of San Diego’s North County Superior courthouse in Vista, California. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2022/f…— February 9, 2022 1:23 p.m.
