Two Arsonists Make Plea Deal
It appears one defendant may have decorated his face with a bit of black plastic fork, that might be what is in one eyebrow here. Deputies tell me the jail inmates have to make-do with non-metallic jewelry. Posted by Eva Knott

Four Years Sentence for Fatal Hit-And-Run
From John Francis Sudac Jr.’s court file: May 5 2011, a jury declared Sudac guilty. Over the following eight months, defense asked to delay sentencing four times. One time the prosecutor asked to delay sentencing so they could respond to defense’s motion for a new trial. In January of this year, defense made a deal to plead guilty to two counts, gross vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run causing death, for a stipulated sentence of 4 years and 8 months. Judge Maino agreed to “set aside” the jury verdict and accept this plea deal and “new trial motion is vacated.” Sentencing was delayed again by defense in March 2012. On April 6, 2012 the defendant was sentenced according to his plea deal. Posted by Eva Knott.

Four Years Sentence for Fatal Hit-And-Run
Visduh, Instead of speculating, I will contact the defense attorney and see if he wants to make a comment on why the sentencing was delayed so long. Eva

Angry Pizza Man
The CO2 powered pellet gun can be a deadly weapon. If the pellet or BB is fired near the eye socket or sinuses, for example, the projectile can easily make it into the brain. According to the victims, the perp put the loaded pellet gun into their faces before he sprayed them both with mace. That makes two dangerous weapons used on two different people, during the attempted robbery. Posted by Eva Knott.

Angry Pizza Man
Sentencing is unbelievably complicated. I was there at sentencing, and I saw the paperwork and I am still not clear how it is that the Sheriff has the perp's release date listed as December 27 of this year. That doesn't even make 2 years since the date of the crimes, Feb 16 2011. On the day of sentencing it was noted that the perp had already served 137 days in custody but was being credited with 205 days. The same day, Feb 2 2012, Judge Goldstein warned the perp that he has "two strikes" now. Sometimes I can only report what is going on, as accurately as possible, without necessarily understanding it all.

Attorney Found Passed Out in Car, Convicted of DUI
Allen Bloom was found reclined in the driver's seat. The alleged female companion did not come in to testify during trial, so we did not learn details from her about the evening and our court photographer Nick Morris did not have opportunity to photograph her. Posted by Eva Knott.

She didn't steal the Belgian Malinois in Escondido. She rescued It.
I got an e-mail from the Sheriff's automated system informing me that TRINA VUKOV was released from custody as of 1/12/2012. Formerly she was scheduled to be in jail until March. Posted by Eva Knott.

Detective Patrick Holt Finds His Man
The jury declared Sudac guilty of felony vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run causing death on May 5 2011. His sentencing has been delayed many times. He remains in local custody. The current court date set for sentencing is March 9 2012, before the same judge who heard his trial, Honorable Runston Maino. Posted by Eva Knott

Escondido Police Nab Alleged Reckless Driver Who Had Cocaine
Mauricio Oliveros pleaded guilty on January 6 2012. He admitted cocaine possession and willfully evading a police officer with reckless driving in wanton disregard for the safety of others, and DUI with a blood alcohol level of .21, and a prior DUI. In the plea deal, two charges were dismissed: resisting officers and driving on a suspended license. Oliveros expects to be sentenced to 270 days local jail custody when he is next in court, in March. Posted by Eva Knott.

One Last Piece of Mail at Las Colinas
Since you are interested, I will list the following technical details taken from the Autopsy Report of the County Medical Examiner, date of autopsy June 24 2011, ME# 11-1366: Cause of death: respiratory failure with gastric aspiration, due to heroin withdrawal syndrome (seizure acitivty). Manner of death: accident. Summary: History of intravenous heroin abuse, hepatitis C by history, Hepatic portal chronic inflammation (triaditis), polarizable foreign material in lung sections. Acute pulmonary congestion and edema, right lung 600 grams, left lung 490 grams, gastric aspiration. I am not a physician so I did try to get clarification from the ME's office by email -- does this mean that Marion Lopez choked to death on her own vomit? But the ME office did not reply in time for our publication date. Posted by Eva Knott

Two Arsonists Make Plea Deal
It appears one defendant may have decorated his face with a bit of black plastic fork, that might be what is in one eyebrow here. Deputies tell me the jail inmates have to make-do with non-metallic jewelry. Posted by Eva Knott http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/apr/1…— April 13, 2012 12:16 p.m.
Posted by Eva Knott. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/apr/1…— April 11, 2012 12:42 p.m.
Four Years Sentence for Fatal Hit-And-Run
Visduh, Instead of speculating, I will contact the defense attorney and see if he wants to make a comment on why the sentencing was delayed so long. Eva— April 7, 2012 8:34 a.m.
Posted by Eva Knott.— March 3, 2012 9:25 a.m.
Sometimes I can only report what is going on, as accurately as possible, without necessarily understanding it all.— March 3, 2012 9:16 a.m.
She didn't steal the Belgian Malinois in Escondido. She rescued It.
I got an e-mail from the Sheriff's automated system informing me that TRINA VUKOV was released from custody as of 1/12/2012. Formerly she was scheduled to be in jail until March. Posted by Eva Knott.— January 13, 2012 7:59 a.m.
Posted by Eva Knott— January 12, 2012 4:50 p.m.
Posted by Eva Knott.— January 12, 2012 3:06 p.m.
Posted by Eva Knott— January 7, 2012 8:28 a.m.
