Dishonest Bookkeeper Goes to Prison
An update on hopes of repayment from prosecutor Anna Winn: “We do not believe she has the ability to repay the money she stole. However, we do expect her to pay as much as possible once she is released from state prison.” Apparently Jennifer Davey was good at hiding money but not keeping books. “Unfortunately she put more effort into her deception than her actual job,” the prosecutor stated. “In order to hide her stealing, Davey generated fraudulent bank statements each month, which required a great deal of effort.” The thief was shameless. “She was calmly and repeatedly able to look her employer in the eye while stealing over a million dollars from him,” Anna Winn noted. “She betrayed her employer on a daily basis.” Posted by Eva Knott. Brawl at School Carnival Turned Into Stabbing
Juan Carlos Lopez pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and causing great bodily injury and committing that offense to assist gang. The plea deal was signed this week, on July 17 2012, and paperwork states the offender expects 365 days custody, with a 4 year sentence hanging over his head if he should re-offend while out on probation later. Two other felonies related to the assault were dropped in the deal. Deputy District Attorney Cal Logan prosecuted. Posted by Eva Knott, photo by Bob Weatherston.

More Tries To Keep Papers Hidden
That is an interesting case, and I do watch it from a distance. Just now I am overwhelmed with other stories. It's too bad but there is no shortage of criminal cases to cover! Thank you for the intelligent suggestion though. Maybe I will catch up with this one later. Fondly, Eva Knott

Four Men Not Quite Charged in Court Yesterday
Good question. Depends. Might want the story if it is: interesting, weird, timely, high profile, unusual, typical, photogenic, makes a good warning, public would want to know this is going on in your neighborhood. Thank you for your interest. Posted by Eva Knott.

Encinitas Man Accused of July 4th Holdup -- of Neighbors
Hernan Cruz, now 20, was arraigned on new felony charges in San Diego's North County Superior Courthouse on Monday, July 9 2012. Prosecutor Robert Bruce stated it was a ***shotgun*** that Cruz showed to his three victims that night, and that the victims did ***not know*** their assailant, and that Cruz and his weapon were found in his ***backyard*** by deputies that night. The judge declared Cruz "a danger to the community" and raised his bail to $250,000 and set his next court date for July 18. The judge required Cruz' image to be tilized to prevent interfering with witness identification in later court proceedings. Photo credit: Nick Morris.

Career Criminal Back in Custody
Torrence Andrew Williams, 36, was arraigned in San Diego's North County Superior Courthouse Monday afternoon, July 9 2012. His bail was raised from $100,000 to $500,000, Judge Hockett noting that it was "a three strikes matter" and finding the defendant to be "a danger to this community." This caused sounds of dismay and possibly anger from a crowd of Williams' supporters located in the back of the room. The judge required a news photographer to tilize Williams' image because of "identity" expectations with witnesses, in future proceedings. The next court date for Williams is set for July 17. Escondido Man Photographed Teen Under Bathroom Door
On June 28, 2012, Judge Kirkman sentenced Hunt to time already served and ordered him to "attend and successfully complete a cognitive behavioral counseling program." Forty-five-year-old Hunt listed his address as "transient" on paperwork in which he agreed to 3 years formal probation. This from court files. Posted by Eva Knott.

Fondly, Eva Knott— July 14, 2012 9:02 a.m.
Four Men Not Quite Charged in Court Yesterday
Good question. Depends. Might want the story if it is: interesting, weird, timely, high profile, unusual, typical, photogenic, makes a good warning, public would want to know this is going on in your neighborhood. Thank you for your interest. Posted by Eva Knott.— July 11, 2012 7:35 a.m.
