Creepy crawly education
Jacob Gomes, 10, came to the reptile show in downtown San Diego with his dad, from El Centro. The young man was not fearful at all, having a snake around his neck. The family paid a five dollar donation to the Southern California Herp Association & Rescue for a chance to pose with the mild-tempered corn snake.

Little black book
I am interested in more details about your friend Crain. And more photos, if you have any. Also would be interested if you have a larger file size of the same photo that you posted, without the edge blur and other alterations. I believe I spoke with you in the courthouse, previously? You can email me through this website, at The San Diego READER. Fondly, Eva

Plaid-shirt fraudster got probation at sentencing
On April 23, 2013, during a preliminary hearing, the Honorable Sim von Kalinowski noted on the record that Abrahim Ah Saed was wearing “the same exact shirt.” The judge said he had been studying the defendant during the one-hour proceeding and declared: “It’s quite apparent that it ***is him***,” meaning the same person who was captured on camera at Lowe’s stores committing fraud. Saed made a plea deal and was then sentenced this last week, on June 26, 2013.

Del Mar cat fight
When Kallie Lamb Hellwig took the witness box in her own defense, she spoke in a soft voice, and made a demure, gentle appearance. Jury decided: guilty of battery.

Little black book
Tyree Davon Pasachall, 29, was sentenced to 20-years-to-Life in prison, last month, May 2, 2013. The Honorable Judge Aaron Katz also ordered $4,592.55 restitution be paid into a victim's compensation fund to reimburse funeral expenses.

Jury: Daniel Hood did abuse his girlfriend’s child
After the jury verdict, prosecutor Keith Watanabe stated: "The law would have allowed me to get a court order to have his penis photographed, but I elected to spare the jury the misery of that process." During trial, Daniel Hood took the witness box and denied that was his body part displayed in cell phone video, but instead he declared "Mine's bigger." The prosecutor seized on this declaration during his closing presentation to jurors. See photo taken during closings.

Memorial Day celebration in San Diego County
Let me reflect for a moment on how you begin your note on Memorial Day Weekend: "thanks for nada." And for you, this day of honor and respect is "if people want to remember American war dead...." The local chapter of the ACLU has filed suits in both state and federal courts declaring that government is prohibited from “sponsoring this Latin cross on public land.” The ACLU wants the cross, which was put up in 1954 during a ceremony honoring Korean War veterans, removed. The Mount Soledad Memorial Association and Representatives Bilbray and Hunter have fought to win standing to participate in discussions with the district court. Argument in court is next scheduled for September 16, 2013. Don't give up.

Three-year-old case for Phillip Miller delayed again
Certainly private defense attorney Herb Weston looks to be worth every penny. He is busy, we see him in court almost daily. The prosecutor does not give me clear answers, when we ask about the delays. So we are all left to speculate about possible plea deals, or what the accused is offering up, in exchange for his continued liberty? Say, is that photo you use as an avatar a bird giving the bird? Very punny ! Fondly, Eva

Escondido man gets 45-years-to-Life for fatal DUI
It's true this jury came to unanimous verdicts quickly. But I understand it was the judge who decided to get tough in this case, the Honorable Kathleen M. Lewis declined to "strike the strikes." That is to say, she did not ignore the perpetrator's prior record, but instead added on the additional penalties demanded by California voters and legislators.

Bedroom window screen in Oceanside was gone
Sherri Lynn Difrancesco pleaded guilty to two felonies today, April 22 2013, according to a prosecutor in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse. Sherri Lynn, also known as Sherri Kingston in court records, admitted both robbery and burglary in connection with her confrontation with the homeowner on Hunsaker Street last December. The blonde burglar is expected to be sentenced to 4 years prison at her next appearance in court, May 22, 2013. And prosecutor David Uyar said he expects Sherri will be ordered to pay restitution to her victim.

Creepy crawly education
Jacob Gomes, 10, came to the reptile show in downtown San Diego with his dad, from El Centro. The young man was not fearful at all, having a snake around his neck. The family paid a five dollar donation to the Southern California Herp Association & Rescue for a chance to pose with the mild-tempered corn snake. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jul/0…— July 7, 2013 12:59 p.m.
Fondly, Eva— July 6, 2013 9 a.m.
Saed made a plea deal and was then sentenced this last week, on June 26, 2013. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 28, 2013 10:55 a.m.
Del Mar cat fight
When Kallie Lamb Hellwig took the witness box in her own defense, she spoke in a soft voice, and made a demure, gentle appearance. Jury decided: guilty of battery. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/1…— June 14, 2013 11:04 a.m.
Little black book
Tyree Davon Pasachall, 29, was sentenced to 20-years-to-Life in prison, last month, May 2, 2013. The Honorable Judge Aaron Katz also ordered $4,592.55 restitution be paid into a victim's compensation fund to reimburse funeral expenses. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/0…— June 5, 2013 12:58 p.m.
See photo taken during closings. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/0…— June 4, 2013 10:11 a.m.
Don't give up. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/may/2…— May 26, 2013 5:33 a.m.
Fondly, Eva http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/may/1…— May 16, 2013 9:11 a.m.
Escondido man gets 45-years-to-Life for fatal DUI
It's true this jury came to unanimous verdicts quickly. But I understand it was the judge who decided to get tough in this case, the Honorable Kathleen M. Lewis declined to "strike the strikes." That is to say, she did not ignore the perpetrator's prior record, but instead added on the additional penalties demanded by California voters and legislators. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/may/0…— May 1, 2013 7:02 a.m.
And prosecutor David Uyar said he expects Sherri will be ordered to pay restitution to her victim. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/apr/2…— April 22, 2013 7:38 p.m.
